Erratic operation of a ready to run MRC in Roundhouse Engine

It is true that mostly longer engines run through these areas. I'll see if I can test another shorter one through those sections. However, it is not just an isolated spot or two. I can hand hold my engine and drag it across 8 feet of track and it maintains the same anemic, sputtering...

Erratic operation of a ready to run MRC in Roundhouse Engine

A Roundhouse rep called me back today. He was 90% certain it was dirt - somwhere - tracks - wheels - or a combination. I will do my due diligence cleaning when I return to the Club Saturday and advise. :| Thanks.

Erratic operation of a ready to run MRC in Roundhouse Engine

Yes, the other loco's show no problem at all in these areas. Another guy who is familiar with these engines said they are particularly sensitive to dirt pickup...that the "stuttering" sound from the speaker is from lack of voltage...that the combination of dirt on the pickup areas of this loco...

Erratic operation of a ready to run MRC in Roundhouse Engine

Unusual sensitivity to voltage drops: Roundhouse-MRC Engine I bought a Roundhouse 4-4-0 engine ready to run with an MRC sound controller a few weeks ago. I use it at the club I just joined. It runs great on 95% of the club track. However, there are two sections where it either barely moves...

    Roundhouse 50' Overland Passenger set

I finally checked deep into the Roundhouse website and found that their Overland passenger cars are coming out in July. I shall wait.

    Duckunders and lift outs

Triplex Triplex: Which make/model/scale triplex do you have - or do you have several? I saw an MTH O at my LHS today - WOW! It's the first two-motor steamer I've seen. To stay on topic, any duck-under that would hold that beast without sagging would have to be reinforced with an I-beam.

    Duckunders and lift outs

What would an automated-motorized, "lift bridge" duck out be worth? Would anyone pay the $200 +/- cost if a company built a precision motorized version of a "doorway lift bridge" for HO or other scale track?

    Shay locomotive questions

No, I think I'll pass on the "Roundhouse." You've convinced me. Sounds like the Spectrum is the way to go. In speaking with my LHS, he said the sound is rather meager from the setup he uses for the Bachman. Looking at the Bachman web site it appears they don't have any sound add-on or option...

    Shay locomotive questions

What Shay HO locomotives (brands) are currently available (preferably 3 truck) with sound and DCC? What is the typical price range and where can they be found? I've heard of some operating difficulties with some, where the rear tender truck might tend to "push" out of sych with the front...

    First Attempt with RR-Track Software - O

As I understand things, being a total novice, Gargraves smallest radius curved track is O32 while Lionel is O36. The 32 really allows some helpful flexibility in areas less than 3 1/2 feet or so. I'm not sure yet what the operational "realism" difference is between a 32 radius vs. a 36 radius...

    First Attempt with RR-Track Software - O

Here is my first attempt with RR-Track software. There are several additional things I want to do with this: Refine a couple of connecting points Add a grade elevation through the mountain in the upper right corner and over the crossing track Add some track control, e.g. uncouplers and...
