Any forumites going to the Plano, TX show in January?

Plano Show I had been to several of the Plano Shows when living in El Pisshole, TX (El Paso). These were the best shows I have ever attended. Lots of great layouts, frienly helpful vendors (except for the a#$*#($)*wipe that owns Pecos River Brass - a real moron). The layout tours were...

Progress Pictures on the ACT RR

Any Photos of the "Toad" ? Mike, Just givin' ya a hard time. The layout looks good. The room seems to have the same decor as it did before I moved to Grand Rapids. Is that the NYC Rocket car on the upper shelf? Marc

    Mantua 2-6-6-2 Articualted Logger

Mantua - Not Dead All, Mantua is not dead. I believe I read Model Power has taken over the manufacturing. With some of the new releases Model Power has come up with, I see no reason for the reliable Mantua lines to become extinct. I hope to see the prices actually drop also on these as...

    MDC 2 Truck Shay

Wipers Sham< These look pretty good. There are actually only enough for 1 MDC shay as each truck uses 2 wipers unless someone wanted to add pick-ups to the an MDC 3 truck shay. Looks like the pick-up wire is soldered to the top of the mounting area. On my wipers, I solder 0.010 wire on the...

Another project in the works. A 1:20.3 freelance tank car. Bass and pine construction, with each piece individual distressed and then stained with Minwax gray. Weathering to take place as things progress. The tank will be PCV sheathed with brass. More than likely, Accucraft archbar trucks...

    Mantua 2-6-6-2 Articualted Logger

Mantua 0-4-0 to -2-4-4-2 Bash Logger heads! Here is a photo of the bashing of two older Mantua 0-4-0s with the compound valve gearing into a 2-4-4-2. Two Sukuru 0-4-0s would work realy well also as they have extensive valve gear detail. Thanks, Marc

    Mantua 2-6-6-2 Articualted Logger

2-6-6-2 Mantua In response to your three questions: #1. Not in narrow gauge -yes, this is based upon the Uintah 2-6-6-2 which actually did not haul alot of lumber. #2. Not in narrow gauge #3. Not sure what he used. However, the only narrow gauge items made by MDC are the shay and...

    MDC 2 Truck Shay

Wipers Shamus, I've not seen photos of the wipers, no photos in the catalog. How do they attach, what gauge of phospher bronze, etc. are they made of. Anything larger than 0.010 diameter wire is too much pressure on each wheel. If you have photos, please attach or send to me. Thanks...

    Mantua 2-6-6-2 Articualted Logger

Mantua Logger I love the Mantua 2-6-6-2 tank logger. This engine runs well, nicely detailed from the factory with plenty of options for more detail. I've had several of these lokies. Nice job on the detailing. I believe most of these were narrow gauge engines, however, the may have been a...

    MDC Shay Tweeks

Jordan Railtruck All, The 44 toner is way too large of a nuit to power an HO plasctic Jordan kit. Never thought of the Gandy Dancer, however, still may be too large. I remembered that "Pager" motors can be used for such powering units. These would need some voltage reduction circuits...

Chicago & West Michigan Inspection Engine

Inspection Engine Robin, The rail maintenance crew and railheads would ride in the front cab for review of track, etc. There are 3 convexly curved windows in the front of the cab and can hold 6 people. One must have been very trusting of the engineer. Thanks for viewing, Marc:D

    Tightest radius for HO

Radius I have 15 and 16.5 inch radius on my logging module. MDC shays and also the Mantua 2-6-6-2 logger will negociate these curves, also the new Bachmann 3 truck shay. My module is 36 inches wide and has a continous loop. I wouldn't suggest going any sharper than 15 inch on the radius. A...
