High Bridge, KY (Tallest bridge over water in the world at time of construction)

I have a project I'm thinking of attempting but not sure if I can find the space for it. It's the 'High Bridge' over the Kentucky River. I need to make a drawing of it first. Lots of pics are available on it. No drawings as far as I know. The deck is 275 feet above the water and the bridge...

    USS Sulaco / Aliens

To work as a Bio Weapon they too would have to be 'Killable' or at least subdued in the sense that such a weapon be used to prepare a planet already inhabited by an enemy say for you to take it over. If on the other hand you just want to eliminate an enemy that would work out fine but you would...

    USS Sulaco / Aliens

The one problem I had from the series or that of the aliens themselves is there survival depends on a parasitic element. That is if the humans never found them they would have died off not being able to 'incubate' inside one. This happens by pure accident. There entire survival depends on this...

    dual operation of turnouts

Probably with a push button and relay. Push button to set the relay and then the relay powers the motor for the switch. You could have two (well four) buttons at opposite ends of the layout and activate from there. An SPDT would burn out the relay. The relay in essence takes the place of the...

Don't get doweling at a hobby shop unless you can't get them elsewhere. All wood products are usually at a premium price. Best to get doweling at a wood craft store, Lumber Yard, Even some large hardware stores (Lowes, Home Depot). The volume that these stores buy wood at reduces the cost...

    VF-1 Valkyrie

Oh now that's priceless. I second that notion. I built plastic models of the Veritech when I was a kid Hasagawa made them. These are 1000 times better (hoping easier to build .. ?) but I'll gladley build them anyway .. when they come out. Guardian/Gerwalk mode is my favorite by the way..hehehe

Track planning using prototype track charts?

It's been awhile since this threads last posting but... I would (I will be) combining topographic maps with the charts. Depending on where you are modeling you will want to see what "if any" town sites and so on you have on the layout. So besides the raw but complete railway data you have there...

    Dan's Layout

When I got the basement to put my layout in it came with this really cool house just above it ;) So when you go house hunting perhaps something to think about :) If you let your significant other know what you hope to do it goes much smoother then lettering her know afterward. Most times anyway...

    Dan's Layout

There is art and creativity in MR as well. I did say that. It's part and part though. Modeling is representation where as art is interpretation. Creativity is in many forms as well as the shear model lets say in model railroading. For me it has many different aspects. That's why it appeals to me...

    colouring question

What you probably have is several different hues of yellow in the JPG image you want to modify.. Okay I'm not to formilier with Illustrator but you should be able to select each one and add to the selection. On PSP it's done with the CTRL key and your magic wand. You will make selection but...

    colouring question

What is the program your using to do the coloring with? Most paint programs can load PDF files. I would load in the PDF. It may ask you the resolution you want to convert the PDF into. Doesn't matter that much. Load in both images and use a color picker in your paint program to get the color...

    Greek Bireme or Trireme

Took a look. It wouldn't take to much work to bump this model up a notch or two.. With some color and 'real ores' or at least cut so they appear separate. You could make a pattern for the ores then with a fan fold you could make all the ores in the same position but keep them attached (handle...

    Going to start over...

I'm going to make a multideck myself. 4 layers (1 staging) with a helix on both ends. It's all in the benchwork arrrrgh.. I'm to one day expand the second deck out from the main area of the layout. I have a 14'x5' space to work in currently. Reach will only let me use about 3 feet of sceniked...

    Going to start over...

Everyone can learn from what they have done in the past. Every layout is a stepping stone to the better layout yet to be built. I'm sure there are sections when you were working on yours that didn't go the way you had envisioned. This is disillusionment and most likely why you stopped. I've...
