The start of my Camas Prairie based layout.

Don't worry, I have a UP Proto 2000 GP38-2 that is waiting in the wings. Just adding a few detail parts to it first. UP and BN played nice on this shortline. UP and NP signed a 999yr joint lease on it when it was built and that transfered over when BN took over. Most freights had at least 1...

The start of my Camas Prairie based layout.

Well I'm hoping it doesn't stay in this location for to long. We are either going to be moving or adding on in the near future so I will have a designated train room.

The start of my Camas Prairie based layout.

Well heres a quick little update on what I've been up to. As you can see in the first photo I added a little storage shelf over the layout. I am going to run some lights under the whole length of it. Most of my time lately has gone into building up my roster (eBay is going to be the...

Proto 2000 PS-2, my first involved kit build.

And here she is, a complete car! Only 5 more to go ( I picked up another SLSF car at the show on Sunday for $6 ). A great looking car for $6-$7. I still have to find the exact color paint to touch up where the sprues were cut. Here is a almost finished shot of my WP Centerbeam Flat...

Proto 2000 PS-2, my first involved kit build.

Had the last couple days off so I was able to get it finished! I took pictures along the way so there's alittle updating here. Here I got the trucks and couplers installed. Easiest part of the build This is showing the top of the hopper completed. All the latches are a great detail but...

    What is your favorite car?

I'm going to have to go with flat car, specifically the logging flats of the northwest. Nothing like a 150 car load of logs going down the track. A close second would be covered grain hoppers.

Proto 2000 PS-2, my first involved kit build.

Proto 2000 PS-2, my first involved kit build.

Well here's a small update. Got the underside of the hopper all done. I didn't glue the trainline to the body yet as its so small and fragile I know I'd break it along the way. Here is the first end cage done. Added the brake wheel, bell crank and brake step. Here are the two pieces...

Proto 2000 PS-2, my first involved kit build.

Well my layout is based on the Camas Prairie which was a local shortline first started by a joint venture between Union Pacific and Northern Pacific (and later Burlington Northern) so it allows me to model all three on the same layout:mrgreen:

Proto 2000 PS-2, my first involved kit build.

Well I just received a set of 5 NP PS-2 covered hoppers I got off eBay for $35 I didn't realize how much there was to the build on these so I thought I might as well document my first project of this magnitude, might be worth a few laughssign1 Here is what the kit looked like when it was all...

    Anyone know TruckLover?

Well long story short, he PM'd me about a kit I had been looking for that was rare and out of production and so I called and bought it. Thing is it was the kit he was planning on buying and didn't realize they only had onewall1. Well I found another one and need to get ahold of him before the...
