Out of the box, the Märklin C-track does not have isolated rails, but it is easy to do: One just cuts/removes some 'spades': On my modules I have separated the rails so that I switch between DC and AC operation. When I run in AC mode, the center studs is '+' and the rails are '0' in DC mode...

Yes, it acts like the 3rd rail (MIBA-Partner: Erbert Modellbahntechnik: H0-Punktkontaktsystem). The engines have a slider that pics up the current (+ digital info). Being a rookie at soldering, I did my best. I will try using silver-solder in the future, thanks for the tip!!

I believe a lot of the European models have NEM style couplers. There are some kadees that can be used with the NEM pockets. I have a few, and I'm planning to replace to Kadees on the cars where it's possible
