    Spotted in Toronto

Yep that sounds like its probably the Canadian. I think the old Budd cars (the stainless steel ones) are only used on the Ocean from MTL to Hfx and on the Canadian. Graham

Its Monday 11-7-05, Weekend modeling accomplishments!

Spent most of the weekend on chores. I love my trees but why is it when you rake so many bags of leaves, an hour later the lawn is covered again!. Still I did manage to get some model railroading done. I sprayed a large hillside of batting trees and flocked them (actually I spent most of...

    Our poor parents!!!

I had another thought, I don't think the world has changed all that much (there was as much crime when I was growing up, it just wasn't reported as well) I think its more that fact that people seem to be scared these days, not only of crime but also being prosecuted for being a "bad parent" etc...

    Our poor parents!!!

Newer Pics and a question Yeah, Some of the pictures were taken on a trip back in the late 90s. I had a wonderful nostalgic afternoon scanning the older pics, but of course I had to do some surfing too and discovered that Cardiff Canton and Bristol Bath Road are both closed!!! :( :( :(...

    Our poor parents!!!

Who or What Got You Started?

This is an interesting thread. I really don't know what got me interested in trains. I know my mother loved trains (and we used to visit my great uncle who was a signal man on the ex GWR mainline at Pencoed in S.Wales) so she encouraged me. My aunt also used to indulge my obsession...

    Secret Cargo?

Hi Charles, There is much speculation on the origins of "standard" gauge (4' 8 1/2"), it was introduced by George Stephenson in Britain and was adopted by many other countries. I don't think there was any particularly well though out reason for it (after all, Richard Trevithick who built...

    Confessions of an Engine Illitererate

I grew up in the uk and was a super-train-recognising-nerd. I could tell identify everything with a 5 nanosecond glance from the top of a rainy bridge from 2000meters. Now, over the course of time I did two important things. 1. I got a life and 2. I moved to Canada. All that hard earned...

    Inspiration to take pictures

Hi Val, All of the local switch jobs we get here are double headed. The usually run tail-to-tail so it may be a visibility thing as we don't have many Y's Of course it may also be that we get all of the dross and old loco's and they're worried about reliability. Still it gives me a...

    Inspiration to take pictures

After seeing Farmer Ron's photo's I was inspired to pop out this lunchtime with my little 2.1Mp snap camera that my wife bought me. I managed to catch train 501 (a local job out of Truro) on its way to switch a local lumber yard and cement works. Here are some of the pictures. Graham
