I replaced the wheels with Northwest Short Line wheels and used the Athearn gears. Works like a charm. Did this to my 6 FA-2's and 2 Gp-18's. The fix also works for others in the Proto line. Tom

I have Stewart VO 1000 and some 660 s in NP and they are great, smooth, quiet and can run extremely slow. For road diesels I have LL (PROTO) in GN and Np and a couple of Atlas which are also nice.

Yes it is vaccum tubing and is black, they should have big rolls of different sizes. Well as to what it is I don't really know ,it's not neoprene most likely some blend. You could also do the heat shrink tubing cover on it to give more strength. The neoprene gas l;ine for model airplanes works...

the tubing repair works wonders..I've used it several times, I'd also recommend your local NAPA store they have vacum tubing in all sizes and you ccan buy it by the foot,it's cheap .like me
