Eastern Tn logging on the DG CC & W RR 1928

You might try placing some weight on the floor or the underside of that ambulance to keep it on the tracks. After all, it won't do to have patients scattered all over the TN countryside....

    turnout motors for Walthers/Shinohara switch

Hi...Welcome to the forum.... I use the solenoid type of switch machine on all my turnouts. Some folks don't like them 'cause they're kind of noisy when thrown, but the noise tells me they've changed route. You'll want to wire them all together so all the points are thrown...

Bill and Tom's EXCELLENT ADVENTURE in Logging and Mining

Bill...The new Bachmann line bears no resemblance to its earlier kindred of the 70-80's....I had (actually, have) a 2-8-0 and a 2-8-2 from way back then...and they are terrible runners. I converted the 2-8-0 into an 0-8-0 using a Bowser "conversion" kit, and while it looks nice...it runs like...

    yellow tape on decoders

I've installed several D'trax decoders on my locos, and don't recall seeing any yellow tape. Whereabouts is this tape..?? If this is a "hard wired" decoder (not plug & play) could it be used just to keep the wires from getting tangled up during shipping & handling..??

    Z-scale

I think the "danger" of doing business on eBay is overstated...I've done over 400 transactions there, both buying and selling, and have been bilked ONCE...$14+ bucks went down the drain. That's better odds than doing business at the corner store....

    Z-scale

I believe Marklin & Miniature Trains are the main manufacturers offering Z-Scale equipment. You might want to check out what is going on at eBay, as you can get brand new stuff for less than store prices...Good luck..!!

The old 32 to 40 foot wood and steel reefers

What's so ugly about that reefer..?? It's unique..!! If I had any use for reefers (of which I have several..) I would certainly want some like that one....

    DC or DCC

Irregardless of the scale you end up with, DCC is the way to go....Although costlier initially, the flexibility it affords you can't be overstated, not to mention the MUCH simpler wiring you need for DCC. I use a Digitrax Zephyr and have absolutely no complaints about it. It is less expensive...

    Athearn Short out!

Dave...When you get back to it, check to see if there are any "wear" marks on the electrical tape, or if a hole was rubbed through...That could show you where the short is occurring.
