What do we hope to see in 2008???

With 2007 quickly coming to a close, what to all the great HO modelers out there hope to see in 2008? What would be your "holy grail"? I'll start off I guess. This has already been made, but already there impossible to get. My wish for 2008 is for Athearn to come out with an Amtrak P42 Phase V...

    Athearn Impack Cars wheel issues

I have a few strings of Athearn's old impack cars, but they all roll pretty bad... I took out a few wheel sets, and I've never seen such small wheels in HO before:eek:. Where can I get metal replacements for such small wheels and what diameter are they any way? 30? 28?

    Joined a club!!!

Hey everyone, heres some more info about the club. If anyone knows the pacific northwest area well (and NP operating area) you'll somewhat know where the places are. They model the 1970's and before. The major sections of the layout are named after towns in the area here. They have a 5 track...

Well, the local club in the area had an open house today, so I went down the checked it out. HO Step Lights?

Whats the best way to wire up an engine with DCC to run these step lights? Which bulbs/LED/optic device would give me the best result and also not damage the shell? Also, isn't there a way to have the decoder only turn on the lights when I want them to turn on? Thanks guy.

    Building Certain Trains

Now, I know many people do this with passenger, such as famous ones like the Empire Builder, the Hiawatha, the SP Daylight etc etc, what about freight trains? For example, I'm trying to build a BNSF grain train that runs through my area, nicknamed the earth worm. Has 3 engines up front, usually...

Hawthorne Village 50th Anniversary Corvette Train

Ah, my uncle has a '69 in the exact color (well the '69 version of it, they just called it "Burgundy"). He put some side pipes on it and WOW!!! That things LOUD:eek:... Side pipes personally aren't my style, but if you want to turn heads, thats a way to do it. Ahh, stingrays, the best Corvettes...

Hawthorne Village 50th Anniversary Corvette Train

Well, I'll go ahead and start the bragging then... lol These next pictures are of my dads '70 Corvette, engine - 454 Chevy Big Block, 390 HP, WAY to much torque for the fiberglass body. Restored to original paint, Donnybrook Green, with tan interior. Only 500 of this kind built, out of 17,000 in...

    DocWayne and Anyone Else...

You bring up a good point with that. You could pile up (although not much) foliage around the posts until you get your desired look, but I guess it would just be resting on the ballast, or what ever other scenery is there. I'm kind of interested now to see just how Doc did it.

    DocWayne and Anyone Else...

I would just do it before the building is down, and if you got any material where the building footprint is, just scrap it up the excess. Decorate around the columns with foliage and call it good.

    My Final Trackplan.....

I meant as in how long do you plan on building it until your satisfied/complete.

Not to intrude, but shouldn't this be in the Photography section? BEAUTIFUL pic, but just thinking this is the wrong place for it.

    Athearn discontinues everything...

This makes sense. When I see "discontinued", I think of never getting produced again. I have been in the hobby of 1/400 scale aircraft for the past 5 or so years, and when a run is out, it never gets brought up again. That is what I thought was happening here, and was very disappointed, not so...

    Athearn discontinues everything...

Ummm, I don't fallow N scale in any sense of terms... I have no idea what Athearn has even been doing in N scale for years... First and foremost Athearn is a HO scale company, thats what my rant and question pertains to.

Great Northern in HO - Which is right?

Thanks everyone for the responses. The GN Empire Builder I am modeling is 1960-1962, the build up of service for the Seattle Worlds Fair... So I guess I could run both silver and black trucks... Thanks again everyone!

    Athearn discontinues everything...

I'm started to slightly get ticked off with Athearn... I'm modeling present day BNSF, so with the Pacific Northwest, that would mean old BN units, and lots of pumpkin orange heritage units ranging from filthy I's all the way to brand new Swooshes... So when I start looking for SD60M, and B units...
