    What season do you model?

Summer.I like the green also Winter?Absolutely not!We get enough of the white stuff here as it is,I don't need to look at it year round on my layout. Spring or fall wouldn't be bad,but as mentioned I enjoy the green of summer.Besides,up here in No. MN they're just basically a part of winter...

    Union Pacific Modelers...

Thanks for the compliment Deano! I'm basically a fan of big steam(Who isn't?),but I like the Cab Forward a lot.My favorite is the DM&IR Yellowstone of course, but no plastic version yet:rolleyes:.I am planning on getting another steamer, just not sure which one.I'm thinking a Blueline Big...

    Union Pacific Modelers...

Not sure, but I don't think it has a spring. It does seem a bit loose though so it swings out of alignment very easily so we'll see what I can do about it.It should not have a problem on 28" curves. The electronics seem to be a little quirky also, nothing major, but I'm going to get the QSI chip...

    Union Pacific Modelers...

Thanks Sarge and MadHatter! It runs very well also, but the forward truck likes to derail some so I'll have to adjust it I think.Maybe tighten it up a little? Chris

    Union Pacific Modelers...

I wish! But with the basic unpainted Akanes going for $500+ I just don't think they're worth it so I got this.I'll just have to wait until the kids are grown and then maybe I could get a real nice brass model of it.Or,I can wait until a manufacturer comes to their senses and decides the world...

    Union Pacific Modelers...

O.K. guys,my new engine arrived today and as promised here are some pictures to share with you..... As you can probably tell it's an BLI SP AC4/5 Cab Forward,it has DCC,Sound and smoke or atleast I think it has smoke since it came with the smoke fluid. This does belong here right?Not...

    Union Pacific Modelers...

I don't see why not Josh. It's a good deal,I'm actually losing about $13 or so on it which isn't to bad. Yeah this guy is a piece of work!I can't believe he would think that people are that stupid,he was trying to make more money because he didn't get enough for the junk he was selling.The...

You know, there's one of those turbines on ebay now I think.Shame you had such problems with ebay and PP,they don't show up too often even on ebay. Chris

    Union Pacific Modelers...

Deano- Yep,with DCC and sound!I'm actually thinking about going smaller and older,SD40-2's,GP's and SD38-2's and such.I have a Kato DM&IR SD38-2 and I want to expand the fleet and I'll get an UP SD40-2,maybe a Blueline? That means the UP Kato SD90 will probably have to go along with an custom...

    Union Pacific Modelers...

I'm beginning to wonder about ebay myself.I received an retaliatory feedback the other day and I'm not happy about it.The guy totally misrepresented what he was selling by grading a HO building VG and not describing the problems it had.He did take photos, but conveniantly did not show one side of...

Great job sarge!Like CNWman said,it looks like factory paint to me also. I'm actually going to be down to one UP engine,my Kato SD90/43,if my BLI AC6000 sells. It's going to be replaced by something that should fit in here though so I'll post pics when I get that. Chris

    Christmas trains from China

If he's older and you have no younger children that still put everything in their mouth you should be O.K. as mentioned above. As far as trains built in China goes? Some very good brands are now made their,I believe Atlas trains are as are some BLI products. It's up to the company to set the...

    Converting Bachmann DCC to DC?

I believe you can remove the DCC board and/or use a dummy plug.I am not familiar with the diesels though,I had a 2-10-2 and that's how it worked for that. Chris

    Missabe layout progress

Thanks!I don't know if you mean mine or Kevins,Ralph, but yeah it's one of the better looking schemes out there.Too bad CN is starting to re-paint them to the more boring CN scheme. I actually think that Athearn did a better kob with the color then Kato, the Katos are a bit too light and red if...

    Missabe layout progress

Man,you don't want to know what I thought the word after "think" was at a glance!sign1 I think he mentioned he was doing Two Harbors and Taconite harbor,if he is he will have to compress everything for sure.I wonder if you could even do it in z scale without doing that.:p Clyde Iron...

    Missabe layout progress

You are right and I wasn't trying to be too critical of the engine because I've had one and they're pretty nice engines, especially for the price Kevin got his for.I also know it's very hard for manufacturers of stem engines to be prototypical for every road, especially engines like the "Santa...

    Missabe layout progress

That's a Bachmann Spectrum,eh?I had one, they are pretty nice engines although a bit generic and if you're the rivet counter type I'd re-number it atleast. The prototypical #509 is far different, but others in the 2-10-2 group look a little better. DMN #509 DMIR #500 Anyways, looking good so far...

    too many good people here

It's amazing what people will argue about on some forums. While doing searches on HO products I have come across threads from other forums where they actually argue about BLI putting ditch lights in the wrong place or that Kato is better then BLI,Atlas is better then Kato ect.,ect.Fanboyism at...

    I am now employed!

They did have one the last time I went there, but it's been awhile so I'm not sure.I'm going to make a trip there this weekend maybe so I can let you know? As far as custom DM&IR paint jobs? When I worked there (ahem)17 years ago they had some old timers that did a great job doing the DM&IR along...
