    Question About The Command 2000

Actually, any DC power pack will do. I usually use an MRC Tech4 with mine...just hook it up to the DC/track out on the transformer and don't forget to turn the transformer's throttle to 100%. Transformers (powerpacks) vary the voltage...14V or so is only provided when the throttle is all the...

    Passenger car building

All six car sides are complete on the outside, minus the ovals and the window corner moldings (which I'm adding right now). I still have to make the moving panes so that I can open the windows. I haven't decided if I'll build then ends before the interior walls.

    first attempt at weathering!

I'd recommend trying some chalk the next time, so if you aren't happy, you can wash it off. It looks fine for the RIP track, IMO. I started weathering with toy train freight cars. My first steam locomotive weathering job was a $12 Life Like 0-4-0t.

    New Metal PRR catenary structures

Will their be any ballast in the future? That was mainly what I was thinking about prior to reading that you planned ahead...removable overheads! It looks nice, and it is cool to see such an urban layout!

Brand New Steam Loco Now Operational

If she's in green, maybe we can convince one of the A4s to again masquerade as the silver fox (?), I really love the early white & grey scheme! I'm really looking forward to the Bluebell's LBSC 4-4-2 project!

    Bachmann Spectrum 2-6-6-2

I once had a 30min wonder from an AHM/Rivarossi 0-6-0...until the seller's glue came undone on the cracked frame and gearbox. It is fixable...If perform far more surgery than it is worth. The Tyco 0-8-0 was a toy train (I've seen them turned into nice models, but with tons of effort). The IHC...

It's a little too quiet in here.

I'm stopping by, but it has definitely dropped off here. I plan to visit here just as much as "the other site" and a third I visit. I post my incremental work on my blog, but I plan on posting my major progress views on all three of the forums I visit since I have friends to share with on all...

    A Time to Spend

I too saw the FDT sale and nearly hopped on it. I called up my dad primarily to keep me from ordering it. If it goes down to $100 or less, like the geese did, I'll get one. $150 for a T-1 is great. Look forward to hearing about your future K-4!

    The"P" in LC&P....

I haven't adequately solved this problem either. I'm probably going to just get custom ones made (I know it can be for around $30 for an 8.5"x11"). Pulsar Pro fx sounds interesting, but I suspect that the 4-6 sheets of custom decals I could have printed for the price of the custom system would...

    Ship in a layout itch...

awesome. Mike, I really enjoy visiting warships (fletchers, subs, the Little Rock, North Carolina, Missouri, Constitution)...but have never modeled a region which would allow me to have one on my layout. I've begun dabbling in Nn3, and while I won't be purchasing a locomotive anytime soon...

    Small HOn30 layout

welcome George! Tim, glad that you are able to get a little enjoyment out of your trains while you recover. Hope your back on your feet and free of medical necessity soon.

    Bachmann Spectrum 2-6-6-2

What are your other two Spectrum locomotives? Is one of them an older K-4? I've been wanting one for a while.

    The"P" in LC&P....

Do you have any custom decals on the way for your power? I like the touch of the Chinese Mike...it makes it look distinctive...I recognized it immediately, because my LHS had one for a while. The difference that basic scenery makes to a scene is quite amazing.

    Fluesheet's Builders Photos

Their LS&MS restoration looks interesting. Usually the underframe hardware is what is missing...so it is sort of the opposite of the normal wooden car restoration. I'm surprised that cardstock would be used for a kit that costs so much. Is there any instructions for making it moisture proof...

    Advise?

Glad you like it. If you look around, you can probably find the Spectrum 2-truck shay with a Tsunami installed for under $300. I think I've seen the non-dcc equipped version for $160. I think I managed to pick up my On30 porter for around $30...a special at my LHS. The moguls aren't too...

    Eastern Car Works Passenger Cars

I'm trying to decide if I should scratch build the cars or buy them. If they are comparable to athearn blue box, I'll scratch build them. If they are on par with Rivarossi's old cars, I might scratch build them, and if they approach the current Branchline-Walthers-Rapido...I'll buy them...

    Eastern Car Works Passenger Cars

I've asked this question on another forum with no replies...I've also seen that this was asked on here a few years ago...with no replies....but I'll try again. Does anyone have any experience with Eastern Car Works kits? I'm considering some HO passenger car projects, and was wondering if they...

Most narrow gauges most certainly didn't just go up a mountain and back. Very few did. Well into the 20th century, the D&RGW and RGS formed an enourmous loop...the Narrow Gauge Circle. Most of the narrow gauges that survived where quite similar to standard gauge railroads...complete with...

    Re-gauge N Gauge steam to HOn3. HELP!!

You might want to check out the On30->On3 conversions. I've regauged wheels by pulling them off and placing them on new axles (won't do that again). I've also done it with a NWSL gear puller...by being careful. If you need to widen them by 3/4mm per side, determine how many revolutions that...
