    Lighting Buildings

Good point, but its only 20mA. However I suppose it could add up if you were to do hundreds of them and you're using a lot of BLI/PCM locos.

    Lighting Buildings

If you're using DCC take a look at the May issue of Model Railroader. There is an article where someone had the idea of using track power to light your buildings with LEDs since its a relatively constant voltage. I did a variation of what he did using some rectifier diodes that i had laying...

    Yard Scenes

That I do!! I love that shot of those guys. Speaking of which, they haven't been out in a while. I just finished the mainline crossovers, maybe thats a good excuse for them to come out.

    An Age-Old Railroaders Problem

i might be at 3-1 for HO as for N I might be more prototypical being about 12 locos and 100 or so cars..... or does it just seem as though i have 100 of them... hmmmm

    Interlocking Towers

My dad still works in an interlocking tower and it is near 3 yards but doesnt control any of the switches in the yards themselves. However you couldn't see any of the yards from that tower because of the proximity. Here's an aerial shot of his tower Dolton (pronounced more like dalton) Live...

Do you model less in the summer?

My modeling wanes a little in the summer due to outdoor projects that need to get done in the house. Except for those rainy days and hotter days when you just want to be inside.

Anyone model the Western Auto Parts Building?

Thanks for the input!! I've resorted to picking the windows and doors out of the DPM modular walls and am going to make a version of it. Maybe I'll get it posted on here as I'm building it for educational interests

    soldered joints

one thing I do is bend the wire so that it'll naturally lean on the rail when i'm holding the wire from beneath. Then your other hand is free to use the iron. As for the solder I have what i need on the iron already which isn't much.

    Tortoise Not Stalling

I was saying if it kept moving it would be making a clicking noise which we had at the club i was in, in florida. After a certain amount of time/uses (a lot!!) the plastic becomes worn and the gear/shaft becomes out of place. All it takes is some brass tubing glued in the place where the...

Does it keep clicking when it keeps running?

    Tortoise Not Stalling

Perhaps one of our moderators could help us move it.

    Some 2TRAK stuff

That's actually pretty nice because you could still effectively get together with N-trak modules and it would still work. Some people would just have to get over the fact that they wouldn't be able to use their blue line except for static display/storage

    My Layout in Fort Dodge

About 2 weeks ago I installed the tortoises I had on hand and after the scotch lock nightmare I had my first crossover operating. The two wire ones are fine but those friggin 3 wire ones just didn't want to make continuity!! I managed to get a couple shots of that progress 2 weeks later...

    Been awhile...

Thats pretty cool. I miss seeing your step by step project posts!! As for your comment on the wiring; I'm sure that one of the wires to each of the leads to the LEDs is a common so you could probably daisy chain it from one LED to the other to save on wiring. Maybe you could even use the...

Anyone model the Western Auto Parts Building?

Has anyone made a model of the Western Auto Parts Building in Kansas City, MO? I have someone at work who got the animated sign from Microstructures and I thought it would be nice to display it as if it were actually on the building it really stands on. Here is a picture of the building which...

    Double Crossover with Hare

I would think you could use a hare because the amps generally aren't a problem. My case is a little different but I wired 2 turnouts to go to one address on a DS64 and it's worked fine.

    My Layout in Fort Dodge

I got to looking at the pictures i did take of the swing bridge and here's the link to what I have.... http://forum.zealot.com/t150739-3/ I posted most of the pics on there. I will have to give you more details. I also have a picture of something from a prior MR issue that i used as a...

    My Layout in Fort Dodge

26 and 28 will work but it doesn't look all that great. I had a cab forward running on the inner main and it looked bad but didn't have any problems. The recommendation on 30 would be something to shoot for but having 26 on accident wouldn't be a show stopper.
