    Peco brand on30 track --?

The 18" radius curves for the Bachmann Shay and Climax are not a problem. I have 15" radius curves and have no problem with either loco. 15" is the limit for the Shay and Climax. Any tighter and they will derail. The trucks won't turn any tighter without binding or having the drive lines come...

    Bachmann On30 Climax disassembly?

Has anyone taken the Bachmann On30 Climax apart? Mine quit running and I can't figure out how to get to the motor and gears to see what's wrong. Know where a link is with pics??

    HO Crane Project

A clam shell bucket closes by pulling on a cable. There are three cables to the bucket. One: lifts the bucket up and down. Two: closes the bucket and runs alongside the lift cable. Three: retrieve line, it runs from the inside(toward the crane body) edge of the bucket to a winch on the main...

    Livesteaming

I belong to the NE Fla. Live Steamers. Just starting a new project. I'm building a 2' guage backwoods style logging loco in 1:1 scale. I aquired a two cylinder steam winch engine, some I beam for the frame, some two foot pipe for the vertical boiler, and I think, a set of 4 wheels. It will be...

    T boiler

I'm looking for a cutaway view of a T Boiler, or a diagram that shows how they were built and how they worked. I'm looking for design information for the T Boiler and also vertical locomotive boilers.

I can hear the triple expansion steam engine clicking and chuffing. Smell that coal smoke and hot oil.

    Come along on our adventure

Trainwhiz, Don't feel slighted or anything like that because you don't get many, many replies and suggestions. It's just human nature. It's been my experience that usually, only about 5% of people will respond. It's normal. Look at any group. Usually it's a small core group that do all the...

    Scratch and bash driver discovery

I don't know if Bachmann makes an N trolley. The one I have is On30. The driver could be used for Ho or On30. The wheel size is the same as some of the Ho steam locos that I have.

    Scratch and bash driver discovery

I have one of the Bachmann Hershey trolleys. It was running poorly so I figured I would take it apart and see if I could restore it to health. What I discovered: The drive unit comes out with two screws removed from the bottom. It is a complete, self contained drive with wheel power pickup...

    Stargate fans

Just an idea. The star gate doesn't usually set against anything. Take a strip of plastic mirror, and make a tube between the gate, and whatever you are backed up against. That way you wouldn't see the train behind the gate, just the reflection of the background. Make the mirror double sided for...

    mini camera rotary snow plow

You could always make the antenna look like the power pickup to an overhead wire. Don't know if any snowplows were electric powered, but it's a thought.

Why not have the train go thru the stargate? ......... That would open up "all kinds" of possibilities for modeling.

    Cutting cars down to size

Well, got home tonight and the first thing I did was take one of the cars apart. There is one big whoping chunck of iron under the interior. Took it out of a couple of cars. I can pull two cars up the 6.5% grade now with very little problem, with the 2-6-0 mogul. That's a definite improvement...

I'm still out to sea. Will be home tonight. I'm thinking of cutting the interiors too. Will see how that works.

    Steam loco power trucks

The next logical question then, is: How would I go about making my own? If they weren't spoked wheels, I could turn some on a lathe. Don't know how I would go about doing spoked wheels though.

Ok, thinking of a harbor deal, but....

There were a number of docks years ago that used that type of dock crane. Most are gone now, replaced by the larger gantry cranes that all four legs run on tracks on the dock.

    Steam loco power trucks

Thanks for the replies fellows, One of the engines I particularly had in mind is that French engine with the nine foot tall drivers. I'm wondering where I might find drivers that would scale to 9'?
