1954 Hudson Hornet, Mobius 1/25 scale kit

Thanks for the tip! I’m being pretty lazy. Wife is going to help me mix a tan color for the interior and I want to start experimenting with the air brush. I have never operated one, so this will be a test.

    Magnolia

This is quite a build, very impressive. I have sent you a message Bill, an offer to attempt to help with the iPad. Other ideas include emailing the photos to one of us so we could post them. Your work is too good, we need to be able to see your progress. Good luck!

1954 Hudson Hornet, Mobius 1/25 scale kit

That cat was quite a thing. He came to us as a young cat, was shot by some idiot, attacked by a bobcat, and survived both. My little rat terrier loved him and Sylvester tolerated her. They were really buddies. I couldn’t find the pic with the dog on the cat’s back, ‘attacking’ him. He just...

I really like the LED lights. My current magnifier light is fluorescent, and will burn out eventually. When it does, a cheap ring light from Amazon will get taped on. I have two other lamps with them now. They are sold as ‘selfie’ lights. LOL

    Homemade tools and organizers.

I thought I had a thread for this, but apparently not. I’ll use this one to post ideas and pics of things I make to make the hobby more fun and easier to organize. Yesterday and this morning, some cardboard was saved from the landfill. The flaps off of an Amazon box became two little...

1954 Hudson Hornet, Mobius 1/25 scale kit

However it turns out, I’m having fun. I am learning the simple stuff now. See all those fiddly little bits in the lower left of the pic? I cut those off and painted them. DUH, now I leave that stuff on the sprue and cut it off AFTER painting. My old fingers don’t like those tiny things jumping...

1954 Hudson Hornet, Mobius 1/25 scale kit

Thanks! I’ll get some of that next Amazon order. I did find that the big red plastic cups are marked with 6, meaning that they are styrene. I’m also going to mess with making some sprue goo and sprue glue. It appears that the easiest way to get the solvent to make it is to get Tamiya Super...

1954 Hudson Hornet, Mobius 1/25 scale kit

WOW, he looks like a great cat. I had a black and white one, showed up to live with us and was HUGE, I really miss him. His name was Sylvester of course. (He weighed 25 pounds at one point)

:) OK, good enough for a model. Now I can proceed with the actual kit build. (I made my own double sided sanding sticks by gluing 400 and 600 grit onto popsicle sticks)

    Thanks for that!

1954 Hudson Hornet, Mobius 1/25 scale kit

Thanks! I gave up on finding any styrene bits, but I did find this, maybe it will help someone else. All my ‘plastic silverware’ was #3. Sigh. So I decided to use a piece of sprue from the model as a reinforcement in one place. Here is the carnage. This was bad. The box must have been...

Thanks, I was just curious. I enjoy flipping through the pics, but the space would be nice too.

1954 Hudson Hornet, Mobius 1/25 scale kit

Thanks, I hope it still exists. I can do a lot of detailing on it, like insetting windows and doors.

Is there a way to turn off the gallery display? It takes quite a bit of space on my little screen.

1954 Hudson Hornet, Mobius 1/25 scale kit

Last night I was looking through pictures and realized that I made a filling station diorama building years ago. It was for my 1:24 train projects. Hudson’s great great great grandfather had a filling station in Ohio in the 30s. This is a picture of it, with a zoom in on the main part of the...

1954 Hudson Hornet, Mobius 1/25 scale kit

Thanks! It will be a diorama based kit too. I have some old garage diorama pages I’m studying. hmmm… I think plastic spoons/forks/knives are made of styrene. I bet I can cut the bracing I need for the fender from one of those. Tomorrow…

1954 Hudson Hornet, Mobius 1/25 scale kit

In keeping with my Attention Deficit Disorder, I decided to build a model car kit. My grandson will be 4 this spring. Right after he was born, I bought this model. His first name is Hudson and I’ve always liked the Hudson Hornet, so let’s get this thing going. Here is Hudson doing a...

Green Army Men Equipment and buildings and stuff…

Too many projects, but they are all fun so it doesn’t matter what order they come in. The Army Men needed a ground vehicle, so they are getting a WWII German halftrack. A halftrack is sort of useless without a driver. The Tamiya kit doesn’t come with a driver. Several good figures and guns, but...
