SR2 Normandy Design and Build - continued

Update 20110909 Well fans, here's the latest news from the Normandy shipyard. Since the last update I finished applying all the skins to the upper hull. Here's a midway shot, where I'm getting ready to apply the final bits. You can see how obvious the white edges are on the pieces about...

    Boeing 707

Tool question Peter, In post 5 above you have a couple pictures where you are using a sewing needle to roll the tubes for the landing gear. What is the metal piece holding the needle? Could you give us some more shots or explanation of how you make those small tubes? Great work so far...

SR2 Normandy Design and Build - continued

Update and Question Greetings Normandy fans. It's been a while since my last update, but never fear, I have been working away. One thing I have done is upload all the pictures I've posted so far into a gallery, which I creatively named "Normandy SR2 design and build". I wanted to do that so I...

    My 1/144 International Space Station

Wow Awesome build inky. I'd love to have seen a pic of your friends face. It would be priceless. Even at 1/144 the size is still impressive. Look forward to seeing more of your work. Steve

    Space Battleship Yamato

What programs(s) are you working on it with? Most 3D programs allow you to split an object into multiple objects. I do it all the time with Meta. Not sure about how to do it in Sketchup, but I know it supports grouping geometries into a larger unit. Steve

    Space Battleship Yamato

Excited! You guys are getting me all excited. I never saw the show when it was on, and I've tried watching some of the (dubbed) episodes, but it's so bad I can't stand it. However, the ship is just the absolute coolest spaceship ever and is on my must have list. Just seeing this thread and...

    Space Battleship Yamato

Um, did you guys miss this post by blaar? He had it already converted to MQO. I opened it, adjusted the paths to the textures and it looks perfect. I'm using the current version of Meta (registered). And by the way, there is a free OBJ export plugin available for Sketchup that generally works...

Anthony344 Picture Test Build Normandy SR2

Beauty Nice job Anthony. Of course I feel slow and inadequate now since I'm still working on mine. Your version is much bigger than the version I'm doing at 24". I also didn't think the open joints in the middle were worth keeping so I smoothed those over in my design as well. Great minds think...

Think Jays Galactica is lonely, need some help

Think Jays Galactica is lonely, need some help

Hi Maya, and welcome to the forums. Which would be easiest? Hmmmmm. I guess I would suggest the Colonial Shuttle and Geminon Traveller as the easier ones. The Mining ship and the Colonial Refinery ship would not be too bad either. Both have a lot of repeated parts. In the Mining ship the...

SR2 Normandy Design and Build - continued

Well I'll do my best to stay focused and on task. It'll be tough though. One of my favourite model subjects is aircraft and we have an airshow here today. Yesterday afternoon two A10s made a flyby over town, and last night I was watching an F16 practice it's routine from my balcony. I've always...

    new pt boat concept

Nice Nice design mchale. I like the torpedo tubes along the sides, and the upper structures give it a nice look of part speed boat, part gun boat. I saw your other post about the pt gun boat and it looks great painted up. Well done! Steve

SR2 Normandy Design and Build - continued

As requested by the moderators I am starting a new thread for my continuing design and build of the Normandy SR2 from Mass Effect 2. After melvin008 did an unfold of a model captured from the game, then hit a wall and stopped development on it I decided to have at it. After doing the SR1 model a...
