Building UHU's Endurance- My First Build Thread

@Cybergrinder @gilgamesch Thanks a lot! I really appreciate everyone's kind words.
I've now finished the eighth of the connector tunnels. The magnets have arrived, but I plan on building one of the Rangers or Landers next, as I need a break from the monotony of continually building almost the exact same piece over-and-over with the connector tunnels.

I apologize for the lack of updates over the last few days. Winter break is over, so I don't have as much free time to work on the model. My latest bit of progress is the first of the 2 Landers. I put a magnet underneath each of the docking hubs, which I reinforced with extra layers of paper in order to prevent bending from detaching and reattaching the ship. The Lander docks with the ship via the docking hub on its underside, but I decided to put a magnet in the upper hub in case I choose to display the finished model like the "spinning dock" scene:

I covered up the docking hubs on UHU's mode with the ones from paper-replika's Ranger model (rescaled) because the ones on UHU's model had become to pixellated for my liking at this larger scale. Without further ado, here are the build pics:

From what I know, the artwork is all vector and should scale up very nicely without pixellating.
 
It looks great. The Magnets are an excellent idea. I was at Hobbytown U.S.A. and I could not believe the variety of magnets they sold. A magnet for every purpose! Great job! :)

I had a lot of trouble attaching the U-shaped "wing to the body. I ended up building the "wing" out of two layers of paper to provide more rigidity. I then printed an extra copy of the front half of the ranger and cut out the gray triangles that show the position of the "wing". I left tabs on them and glued them into the "wing". Be careful here, as these line up with the bottom corner at the bend in the wing and the front end of the triangle does NOT line up with the front of the wing. I'll post pics when I build the next Ranger in a day or two, so that you can actually have a clue at what I'm talking about :)

These models would scale up, but you wold then to greeble them as they got bigger, or they would end up looking like painted boxes. :)
 
Interstellar earned a spectacular 5 academy award nominations this morning! I personally thought it deserved a nom for best picture as well, but I'm completely perplexed as to how it didn't get nominated for best cinematography, seeing as how it was considered by many a frontrunner to win that one.

Anyways, I've finally completed the final docking port! The finished ring measures a whopping 13.5 inches across (not quite as big as expected, but certainly big enough)
Up next, I plan to start working on the central docking hub. I have an idea for a stand for the model. It will have 4 posts of different heights, each of which will have an angled "hand" piece for one of the modules of the ship to sit on. This will hopefully display it at a nice angle AND in a way that I can rotate it to also show the backside, as there is a lot of detail work there.

When you can take pictures as clear and large as you have (Great job on that, by the way), and see no errors on the models, my "Hat's Off" to you. Excellent craftsmanship! :)
