Building UHU's Endurance- My First Build Thread

Dude, if the rest of the modules come out as square and true as these (and I am sure they will), this model build is going to rock!! Great start!

More progress: I've now finished the first of the engine modules and what a pain in the A$$ THAT was XD Those thrusters were almost too small for me at this scale… I can only imagine how hard they must be at original scale. I'm quite pleased with how the model is turning out; UHU always manages to pack an amazing amount of detail into his models. Up next in the ring is a landing pod module, so expect build photos of that tomorrow or Sunday.

The model is fairly big at the original size, even for UHU's standards. At 1.5 times as large it's gonna be huge! :)

Nice! I'd love to see some pictures of your build. The engine modules themselves aren't TOO bad, they're just quite a bit more intricate than the other modules what with their different shape and indented areas. by far the hardest parts for me were the three thrusters, as they were just a bit too small and fiddly for my fumbling fingers

I will take some pictures of my current WIP sometime soon. I took the approach of grouping repetitive tasks into 1 long process to prevent myself from getting the "deja vu" feeling which I really hate. I plan to build all 4 of the engine modules at the same time, cutting and assembling 12 thrusters in 1 go(LOL) before I go the other parts of the engine.

Here's a pic of the first module I build days back. I am building it at original scale(A4).

This is a GREAT threat. I can barely resist to start this model, too! :)

(BUT I HAVE TOO MANY OTHER THINGS WHICH COME FIRST!!! ;))
 
Next, I completed the 3rd of the Command/ cryo-lab/habitations/connector modules. This one was the connector piece for the main docking hub. Overall, it wasn't too much more difficult to build than the previous 2 modules of the same type, but the circular hole into which the docking hub will be inserted was a MAJOR PAIN in the A$$

Lastly, I built the last two of the Landing Pod Modules. They went just as quickly as the first two did, clocking in at probably about 2-and-a-half hours for each. The final picture here is of the modules approximately spaced out as they will be in the final model. The finished diameter should be a whopping 18 inches. I hope to finish the modules tomorrow, otherwise I won't get around to building them till next year, (badoom-crash) so expect LOTS more from me tomorrow and maybe even later today.
