Im taking a break from my Tank Manufacturing for a Project that is near and dear to my Heart. Two of my Dearest friends, Shannon, and Bryan, Lost their father on Wednesday.
Both Shannon and Bryan (brothers) are close friends of mine, and Ive talked to their father (Michael) once. For the last year or so, Michael and Bryan were working on the crew to restore the Iowa. Michael served in the Navy during WW2 and after, and served on a few ships, although he was never stationed on the Iowa.
But the Ship has special meaning for Bryan and Shannon.....So im attempting to build a 1/300th scale U.S.S. Iowa. this will be my first ever attempt at a ship in this scale, and my first Battleship at that, so please wish me luck. I'll start a new thread for the Iowa when I have pics.

What an amazing builder you are. What an honor to receive a request for one to build a memorial project. I am sure you will construct a worthy and honorable tribute for your friends. Thank you for continuing to amaze us by sharing your projects.

Hey everyone, Other than the Memorial for Shannon and Bryans Dad, I haven't done any building for quite some time. Some things happened in my life that struck very close to home, and I just had to step away for awhile. Im not getting into details so please don't ask.
BUT, Im ready to pick up the glue and knife again, and am starting with a regular scale build of a Deimos Infernus Predator for a Buddy. Pics will be posted soon.

I am glad to hear that you are back and starting up again.
I hope that all is now well and that what every you recently went through is fully over and done with.

I've shown you all how I support the inners of the Wheel/Track sections. An effective technique for a part that is large, but narrow......For those parts that are large in all directions, Like the main body of a Tank for instance, I sturdy them up with Triangle formers Each piece flat is 1 inch by 1 inch, the score lines are at 1/4 inch increments. Cut score, fold glue, then place in strategic places inside the body, and they stiffen up the body without any warping, or added weight.
Thought some of you could use this Idea

Good idea.
I've just finished a leman russ and I added a cross shaped form to serve as internal strengthener, but if you don't measure it right, it will show in the finished model.

That's why I like the Triangle formers....they don't show up in the finished model unless you use too much glue

It's different for different scaled projects.....but for the WH40K projects, all the Triangle formers ate 1/4 inch on each side, and each former is an inch long.
This makes them large enough to be easily made, and strong, yet small enough to fit in just about any space without having to make different sized ones.
As far as placement, that's up to the eye, I didnt measure where I placed them
Those extruded triangles really give it some "umpf".
They also prevent flat surface warping.
