I've found the old files of my Wanderer class build again. Now I can tell you exactly what went wrong with my build. First, the neck which combined the saucer section and the engine section was too big. I resized it to about 57 % which should fit. The impulse engines on the warp nacelles were too big, too (the parts with the red lights). I reduced them, too. You'll have to check the length of the (grey-blue) cover part and maybe resize it a bit to make it long enough to cover the nacelle. Unfortunately the main parts suffered from bad storage conditions and cannot be used for completing the build; I guess I'll make a new one soon.

I'm 47 now getting close to 50
that's half antique !!
Had a good birthday though with family around and last night we (my wife, daughter, son and me) went out for dinner in Germany, we live close to the German border, their schnitzels are more then delicious !!:mrgreen:

I don't have the nacelle scaling problem, seems like your sheet 2 and 3 didn't have the same scale perhaps ?
The neckpart is a problem though. When you scale it down and would assemble it the way it is then the dish would be tilted because the neck doesn't line up correctly.
I'm making my own custom neck perhapes a bit more detailed to.
This model is turning into a "one of" though, not much standard right of the template anymore.
In your pictures it shows that you assembled the 3 main hull parts allready.
I ran into problems when I first did that because the back part with the hangar opening doesn't line up with the main deck that you'll have to partially insert into the hull. I had to up-scale the backpart of the hull to 125% of the original and custom-fit it to the assembled upper and lower hull and deck. (do I make any sence ? :mrgreen
I hope to get some things done today, we'll see.

Yes, I completely understood :thumb: . I don't know any more if I had a problem with that part; I started my build almost three years ago so my memory is a bit foggy about that. What you said about the different scales of my parts pages might be true. I was thinking the same. Anyway, I won't continue this build because the main parts were crushed due to the lack of formers and a bad storage (it was one of the first paper models I tackled after a long time). Little update on the Wanderer.
I had to carefully cut my first attempt for the neck off the main hull again because the saucer tilted forward, looked sleek but not realy accurate.
So I started from scratch today and made a complete custom neck template which I can use to cut out the left and right neckparts out of a hullplating print I made. If all goes well it should fit and keep the saucer in the right angle.
When I start building the neckpart I'll make some pictures and post them so you can see what I meant.

Let's take it like this: A good wine gets better and better the older it becomes. However, good storage conditions should be provided to prevent it from turning into vinegar :mrgreen: !
IMO age is just a date in your ID card. The most important thing is that you feel good and that you are still capable of enjoying the beauties and wonders of life.
Anyway, John Glen surrounded the Earth 134 times at the age of 77. If that's not a goal to live for! :thumb:
Oh, and for the record, I was born three weeks before Episode IV premiered. We don't get old, we become classics!

@Revell-Fan- why, you're just a "young un" (western slang for young one)! I saw it shortly before my 12th birthday.
But you are right- it's only a number. What matters is how you feel, and how active you are in mind and body. And as Rogerio says, when you've got a couple of young children (mine are 4 and 2) who think the world of you- well it tends to keep you thinking and feeling young.

PS- great build Shadowhawk141. I like the inset you did near the weapons pod. And I always use watercolors and a number 000 brush for my edge painting. With an inexpensive set like the one in this thread-

Next update, the neck episode....
As I said I made a template for the neck part.
I used it for cutting out the right en left side of the neck, I printed some hull plating textures from another part of the model for that.
The first pictures show the assembled neck with the template laying in front of it.
I also made a custom scale impulse engine and frontside of the neck with the photon torpedo tubes.
It turned out great and after setting it to the hull I could hold the saucer on top to see if they alligned correctly, and they did ! :mrgreen:
I allready made some custom impulse engines to the saucer but forgott to take pictures of that, you'll see that in the next update when I put the top and lower part of the saucer together.
It's been a lot of work to get the neck just right, making a custom one alltogether was easier than using the excisting parts though.
I'm now going to finish up the saucer and start with the nacelles.
