This oddly colored hopper was part of the early unit coal trains run by the L&N, although why they chose orange for the first color is unkown to me, but I like it:mrgreen: Although it can ride rails, this thing is WAY past its prime and is in need of maitnence (I subsituted accurail one-peice couplers for these pics), so it will be turned into a MOW balast car along with some proper weathering:mrgreen:
Here is a partially disasembled TYCO caboose, Chessie Sys./C&O #3323, with the cab riding on an improvised flatcar (another TYCO car's floorplate). I am going to bring this caboose up to snuff (knuckle coupers, windows, the works), but what I can't decide on is to keep the orginal lettering or turn this into the first Riverside Railroad peice of rolling stock.
Oh yeah, and this morning, I caught UP 2-8-0 #618 preparing for her first run without the extra tender weight. Conrail #1992 is leading the fan train so as to clear the mainline:
