Thats a 1960'sAkane brass model of a DM&IR class M4 2-8-8-4 yellowstone.
Believe it or not it was more powerful than the fabled UP. Bigboy.
There are still 3 of them on display up on the iron range in northern Minnesota.

My guess would be a Yellowstone, although I wasn't aware of one in HO, other than brass. There is a very nice one in N scale though, from Benchmark Models.

Well, i pre-ordered BLI's UP AC6000 back in December...it came today!:thumb: perfect timing since i have now backdated the "Rock Valley Sub" to 69-79...dont get me wrong, I'm still GLAD I HAVE IT!:thumb::mrgreen:

This engine is another FINE EXAMPLE of the FANTASTIC QUALITY BLI puts into there engines:thumb:. it runs smooth as silk, the lighting effects are GREAT, its VERY HEAVY, and the sound is SLAP AWESOME!!!:up: i ran it some on Dads layout tonight before i brought it home, we BOTH agreed the horn on this engine is the best sounding horn of ALL the engines either of us have, and folks, thats A LOT of engines. for ANYONE modeling modern, THIS ENGINE IS A MUST HAVE!:thumb:

Yes, the SY is Chinese. One of them was brought over in 1989. The engines that arrived recently were two QJ 2-10-2s.

I didn't recognize the SY out of context. I guess that shows just how American in design Chinese steam is. Or did you modify it to look more American?

I'm putting in the pre-order for the yellow, and I'll get myself a red sill later. I still haven't bought an AC6000CW, or either of the ES44AC's. I guess I'm just slow.

Thought I'd post a few pics of one of my 2TRAK corners module rebop.

The spot of blue paint is where a water feature will go.Doesn't look much like water right now but the alteranative was pink foam.:mrgreen:

The last three pics are of the other sides of the module that was origonally built back in 1994 as a 4' NTRAK corner.

Triplex, the SY is as it came right out of the box (with the exception of a decoder). It is a little "daintier" than it's US counterparts, but fits right in with its American cousins.
