Lost in Space (TOS) B9 robot by CWH (?)

I found this on an old USB drive. No idea where I found it, or who the original designer is, all the document says is " COPYRIGHT CWH 03/28/2011 "

Anywho, the .pdf is like 9 pages, 4 of which are parts, 3 are photos of the assembly process. 1 is a parts breakdown drawing, and the final is a splash cover page with a pick of B9, but not of the finished model.

Since I now have a computer with a large screen monitor in the "Hobby Room", I only printed the parts pages, BTW, they must be for A4 paper, because I had to down size to 95% to print on Letter size.


I'll start by scoring the fold lines, and then begin cutting and glueing.

This one is just gonna be the straight build to see what upgrades can be easily done.

Construction starts logically with the bottom "feet" of the robot.

2 pieces cut out and pre shaped.


And assembled. not perfect but a good start.

Legs getting formed and glued, then attached to the rapidly growing robot.

Leg to torso connector cut out and preformed, then glued together, and waiting for the "floor" of the torso.

And the torso bottom done.

And attached to the robot stack.

Last update on the LiS B9 for today.
The torso cut out, preformed, then assembled.

I am seeing if stuffing tissue into the voids will make it sturdier... so far, so good.

My first attempt at corrective surgery, I attached the lower bevel of the torso to the legs too early, and in the wrong direction... Dohhh But the surgery was successful.

Now working on the upper "neck" area. Pieces getting smaller and more delicate.

Final update on B9, Upper ring added, antennas and handles laminated,

Torso affixed to the legs again.

Head rings attached

Antennas and handles cut out.

Arm pieces cut out, laminated and preformed.

Arms assembled.

Arms affixed.

Bubble pieces cut out, preformed, and glued together

attached, and finished robot.

I put the bubble on front to back, but it's ok... Next time I build this I'll try adding a few grebblies, and recessing a couple panels.

My Brother claimed this one, so it will be going home with him on Sunday.

The way that "Bubble is designed you could just use some shrink-wrap packaging and find/cut out the clean flat parts...hold the parts together with painters tape and dot connect with superglue, let that dry and remove the tape and finish gluing... a good clean joint between parts is a must...as the better the fit the better the capillary action of the glue, no mess no fuss!

This was just a quick and dirty build to see what could be upgraded. A future build will have raised and recessed detail, clear "Smoked" voice light area, and a clear bubble with the triangle sensor inside.

This model is right now snugly packed in a bag full of tissue, inside a box full of tissue on a train ride back to Mississippi with my brother. He say the plans as I started on it and said "I Have to have that. When it's finished it's MINE." and due to Amtrak COVid 19 practices, he stayed an extra 3 days. Now I have the perfect reason to build it again, and better.

That tissue idea is growing on me. I just had a thought, those people hoarding toilet paper since spring might use the overstock to come here and build paper models with it. :Grin:
