Water Mill

Scale : 1:160
Author : Marián Hlaváč
Source : Vystrihovačky (book) (Perfekt)

I've been thinking about starting a folk architecture series for a while now. I chose this water mill to start with. This is the most published model of this author, it was published in the magazine Zenit, ABC, Fifík and the book (I built the version from the book).
I improved the windows on the models, which were just drawn a little more plastic and added a railing on the bridge. I used the horse carriage, bench and millstones from a windmill model by the same author (I'm finishing this mill right now, so it will be the second build in this series). I added grass, water, figures and trees and that's about it...If you play with it a bit, even such an old model can be turned into a pretty nice piece...a few photos:

That's a very pretty, tranquil setting. Very well done. ;)

Addendum: I would really like to have a house or barn with a water wheel. I would make good use of that power making device!:)

Another model in the folk architecture series. This was one of the first models I glued when it came out in Zenit magazine... so I gave it a repeat after some 35 years... The model is unmodified, I also glued accessories - a ribbed carriage, a ladder and millstones, I added grass, figures and trees, a few photos:

The accessories you added bring this scene to life! Great work on these.

...thanks ;), but the model itself is quite simple... the accessories are already more laborious, mainly to cut the "air" out of the ladder and the wheels of the carriage... and the base was also not so simple, because I wanted the mill to stand on a hill (terrain cut out of polystyrene and putty used on top)
I glued both mills together especially for the exhibition in Nitra:

In two weeks there is an exhibition in Myjava, photo from last year:

if nothing unforeseen happens and I go to the exhibition, I'm also planning something special there again, but it won't be architecture anymore...;)
