    USS IOWA CLASS from me

In that case you captured the proportions admirably. I'm really impressed.

    USS IOWA CLASS from me

The Iowa is looking good - and it's nice to see the 1980s version built. However, I'm still curious whether you use plans, or just freehand it from pictures?

    USS IOWA CLASS from me

What plans are you using? BTW, the first 16" turret had a big US flag painted on top: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:USS_Iowa_BB61_Iowa_Explosion_1989.jpg, with all deck surfaces a darker gray than the bulkheads and sides.

    USS IOWA CLASS from me

Oliver, first off, let me say that the level of detail you've put in at that scale is impressive. However, one thing sticks in my mind - your model's straight prow doesn't look much like the curved prow of the Iowa class ships - one of their most characteristic features. If there is any way you...

    HMS bounty Diorama

Come on, Padre, don't make me sound like some kind of complainer. Artistone asked for constructive criticism, and I gave it to him. I still think it's a nice model - as I mentioned in my original post.

    HMS bounty Diorama

Nice job - I like the dynamic look the model has. But since you ask for pointers, in the future you might consider what gale-force winds do to the tops of waves - they're not simply foamy - they're foamy because they're blown at high speed in a single direction. That means white streaks away...

Why do you build card models

    It's more fun than a barrelful of monkeys - that's why. :-)

    Two new models from GreMir

What criteria do you use to determine a client's location? I live in Poland but also have a permanent address in the US - does that mean I can only buy a model from you when I'm in Chicago? I'm not trying to circumvent any safeguards you may have in place, just want to know my options.

Looking for a Chinese Junk Ship model

You might want to change the title of this thread - at first I thought it was a complaint about the quality of Chinese products (models?) ;-)

    [zapowiedź] JAK-3 OrlikMK

It's an announcement of a model of the Yak-3 fighter flown by Hero of the Soviet Union S.V. Nosov. It will be available starting on Friday (maybe Thursday). BTW, the cover says English building instructions will be available at www.orlik.konradus.com, but that page redirects you to...

S.M.S. Schleswig Holstein, GPM, 1:200, Full hull

On US Navy battleships, the turrets were numbered, not named. I don't know if their crews gave them pet names, but it definitely wouldn't be the norm. Flu - a nice build of a very controversial subject. When GPM first announced its intention to publish this model, the Polish sites were in an...

    1/300 OLZA- Polish piece-goods ship

Regarding the glues, maybe one of our UK friends would chip in with brand name suggestions - Butapren is a contact (rubber) cement, while Hermol is a transparent polyurethane concoction. I have no idea what kind of glue Minutex might be.

    MRE boxes

Don't MREs come in heavy brown plastic bags? I don't think I've ever seen one in a box.

    Ship Railings

If scratch building, it's possible to make a jig out of threaded rods (metric M6 screws have 1mm pitch, for instance). To do this, bend a length of threaded rod (should be available at most hardware stores) into a rectangle, then wrap your railing wire around the jig at set distances and glue...

    Russian Imperial Cruiser "Aurora"-1st impressions

You'll lose a generation, but you'll gain card quality, the ability to rejiggle and retouch the colors and as someone already mentioned, a virtually unlimited number of spare parts.

Yea! Hear, hear! Scan thee and print! (At least you won't have to deal with what passed for card under communism)

Upcoming cardmodel of the SATURN V / Apollo 11 launching equipment

Hey, I only asked Thomas to consider reserving PART of the print run from the laser cutter. The 20,000 parts are in fact for three models (I would guess much of that in the crawler drive system and launch pad tower), so that brings it down to a more manageable 6,000-7,000 per model. I know...

Upcoming cardmodel of the SATURN V / Apollo 11 launching equipment

Hmmm. You're creating a dream model set. However, I would ask you to reserve at least part of the print run without putting it through the laser cutter. I don't know about others, but cutting out the parts is part of the fun of building models for me.
