Do you display your unused trains?

Thanks ! Old school it is ! Bob C. Thanks for the kind words ! I agree on the " old school " style of layout, after all, I am old school too ! I just can't bring myself to re-do the layout ! I've got to have 300 miles of wiring, dozens of relays, 25 or so tortises, signal circuitry and the...

How do you use a #79 Drill Bit?

Josh, Try Googling or whatever search machine you use and look for " Micro-mark " tools out of New Jersey. They specialize in all sorts of modeling tools, supplies and the like. They are not real expensive but can become addictive - be careful ! Joe

color for ho scale hot metal car

Todd, I spent many years when I worked as a glazier in and around the mills of Northwestern, IN. The times a new or refurbished hot metal car also known as a torpedo car were put in service, they were painted black. But certainly with all the heat burning off the paint, blowing dirt and...

    Pikestuff building size question

Kevin, I have the building you speak of on my layout. The prescribed lines that Pikestuff has inside the structure are a fuzz ( and I mean fuzz ) less than 2 1/2 " track center to center or on my scale ruler a little over 18' in HO scale. Joe :thumb:

It is unloaded with help of gravity at the bottom through fittings for connecting hoses to. Nice picture and good luck with your...

Trailertrain, how do you fix your trailers ?

Paul, The trick I've used in the past to enlarge most any small hole is not use a drill bit as the sharp edges seem to catch and bite out to much material. Instead find the smallest diameter circular ( rat-tail ) file you can find and turn counter-clockwise in the hole and retry repeatedly until...

    Brass rivets

If you disassemble an Athearn dummy or power loco truck, separate the two halves and inspect them, you'll see an eyelet that was originally a rivet that the sideframe pin (pins) slip into. And the other brass eyelet originally a rivet hold the metal straps and the halve together. I've...
