joefryfry's layout - The Waynesburg Southern

Keep in mind that the reach into that back corner is going to be somewhere in the vicinity of 3'. Also remember that your longest train should not be longer than your shortest reverse loop and reverse loops have to be isolated and wired differently with DC or DCC.

    Here I go

The bigger layout in my dining room started off with 4% grades. I like to pull longer trains though and before long, I realized this was a bit steep. I added a 3' extension in the middle of the layout which allowed me to lower all grades to 2% except one which came down to 3%. I think, with your...

    Theme park trains

Yehhh, we're back home already. We did visit the Orange Empire Railway museum in November of 2004 though for a day out with Thomas. We got to do all of the things you mentioned and had a blast. Hard to believe that was 4 years ago already.

Never mind. I was wrong. There have been two episodes now where he was invited into the firebox. The first, he did decline. The second, which I just finished watching, he accepted.

    Extreme Trains On Right Now!

Don't get me wrong Jesso, I didn't say I didn't like him, merely he's a little amped up for my tastes. In fact, it was his initial energy that originally attracted me to the show. Like I said before, if it wasn't for that energy, he probably would not have gotten the job. I thought he declined...

    Extreme Trains On Right Now!

You mean like when they were approaching horseshoe curve pulling the coal drag and he asks the engineer what they were doing... going up the hill... WOWWWWW! Then they start down the other side and he asks the same question... going down the hill... Wooo hoooooo!

    Tighest radius

Our first child was the reason I started building these small tables. As a stay at home dad, I could not very well spend hours upon hours out in the garage anymore with a new baby in the house. In place of glass, I cut a piece of plexi glass to fit the opening instead. Then after he passed...

    Theme park trains

Well, once again, we did the Disneyland thing over Thanksgiving and I took a few more RR related pictures worthy of sharing. First up, a fun little store but not much in the way of train stuff. I liked the play on words for the name though... Last trip, I took a picture of the front end of...

    Extreme Trains On Right Now!

I found two things interesting with the coal drag... 1. When they changed out a wheelset, it did not appear it was fastened to the car in any way other than gravity. 2. When they dumped the coal cars out using the rotator, it was pretty neat how the couplers rotated in place, keeping the car...
