    New CP caboose

Thanks all! Wayne, just a note on the end rails. They are made of delrin, that slippery plastic, and will be rather tricky to paint. Val

    IHC Mikado?

The main problem with these (and just about every other mass-produced Mikados) is that there's no all-weather cab. It's true there was the occasional Mike with US style open back cabs, but not very many. The vast majority had the vestibule, ie all-weather cabs and most also seemed to have had...

    New CP caboose

Picked up 3 new True Line Trains CP cabeese today. I got 2 with block lettering and one with script. Although the script lettering is a tiny bit too modern for 1956, I like it! :) Here's a couple shots showing the incredible detail on these models, including the marker lights.

    Scratchbuilt factory

Good to see you Jimmy - it's been awhile. Have to say that even hearing the name Georgetown still brings a little lump to my throat. I love waterfront scenes and will sure be looking forward to yours. Val

    Unfinished projects

Glen, you're a brave man! If I tried to make a list of all my unfinished projects, not only would it be utterly depressing, but it would also take so much time that I might never finish any one of them! sign1 Val

What do we hope to see in 2008???

I'd like to see some steam engines with all-weather cabs for once. Same thing I wish for every year. Mikados, Pacifics, Northerns would do nicely.

Here's some more info I gleaned about this "slippery" plastic from the CN SIG listserve. From Jason Shron, owner of Rapido Trains: Celcon and Delrin are one and the same. Actually, these are brand names for something called Polyoxymethylene, or POM for short. From Stafford Swain, a...

custom decals - a helpful tip

No, lighter colour will not show up on a darker background because the colour is not opaque, which means the colour behind will show through. Take a piece of black paper. Now take a red marker pen. Draw a line. Is is red? No, it simply makes the black darker. As I said in my previous post...

custom decals - a helpful tip

Art Decko's suggestion of printing a test strip is the only way to find an accurate colour match. Inkjet printers use Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black ink (CMYK) on paper. Most jpg images are RGB (red, green blue) which is composed of light - not ink - shining from your computer screen. In...

    canadian national cabooses

Picked up the 6 I ordered on Saturday and I am very impressed with the quality. With the exception of the end ladders and details all the grab irons are metal, the paint is crisp and the detail is excellent! :thumb: TLT worked closely with the CN SIG on these models. There has been a fair bit...
