Awhile back, a friend on FB (who is a senior member of a Battlestar Galactica club) asked me if I could make a model of the ship that he created. It is named the SATURN. It has four landing bay sponsons (that are through-and-through, meaning that it is like the battlestars from the new series). Here is what it looks like.

So, in order to make this model, I am going to use the template that @Gearz designed, with a bit of modifications being made.

I am starting with the "Command" section. Here is the first page of the instructions.

Nice concept! It's almost like a dreadnaught class of Battlestars. Now, the question is: What type of enemy requires this much fighter and firepower to defeat? Did, somehow, the Borg cross over into the Galactica universe. No, wait... it's CTHULHU!!! Aaaahhh.... the MADNESSSSS... THE MAAADDDNNNEEESSSSS!!!

Great work, Rhaven!

Now all we need is a Battlestar Jupiter!
Ask and you shalt receive:

(For Sagan's sake, I had no idea that this was called a Jupiter class! :D )

Interesting concept, but the main guns on the topside would have to be located on the upper landing bays, as the ship would loose all it's top defense capability.

This is true, but given the number of fighters the Saturn would have, and the probable long-range firepower it would have, the chances of an enemy craft reaching it would be almost nil. Now, if it is going head-to-head with a Basestar or anothe Capital ship then the top-side guns would come in handy.

Interesting that you mention that. That was something that I discussed with the person that I am building this for!

This is gonna be a keeper, and I'm sure the mods to the original Battlestar will be made available...

Since this is a "one-off", that all depends upon the person who requested the model in the first place. However, with that being said, This thread will be a guide for those who want to make something like it.

This is section 2. Finishing up the command section and attaching the "neck". I will be adding greebles as I go. However, I will only be adding a some of the greebling (If I added all of them, I would never finish it).

Weapons platform emplacements on the top and bottom of the extra landing bays is exactly what I had recommended to the person that I am making this for. He wholeheartedly agreed with me. With that being said, I may make cannons for it. I have not decided yet.
