I needed chain pulleys for the chains that control the coal chutes. I ended up glueing sequins back to back. I will be very happy if anyone knows other means of making pulley wheels.

Inthe past Iv`e used clothing snaps from a frabic store they come in diffrent sizes. Iv`eused them back to back for pulleys and rope sheves. Hope this helps.

I have been adding coal chutes. They aren't painted yet. The "chain" is DMC floss metalic. I tried the jewelery chain but it was too big in scale for this purpose.

Tad, this guy is great with a cereal box and a knife. I really love watching the progress on his projects. It just makes you want to do more.

Watch out for that scratch building bug though. It can cause you to do great things and then share them with the Gaugers.

Thanks for the kind words folks. I am pleased that you find this post inspiring Tad. Many other posts here at the Gauge have been an inspiration to me.
Well it's Tuesday May 6th and last night I put paper roofing on to the structure. I cut 1/4 by 1 inch strips of paper and glued them on with white glue.

Next step was to paint the roof grey then add a wash of black. I still have to work at this a bit to get the look I want.

I don't think I've commented previously on this thread, but be assured I'm following it in awe. "Inspiring" is an understatement. Right now I'm getting my feet wet building plastic models. Kitbashing is next, and I hope someday to get the courage to start on a project like you're doing.

That's the one of the things I admire about this forum are the tutorials and the progress pictures. Keep it up.

Looks like I'm going to have to start eating cold cereal again.

That is really great work, what you have done with cardboard looks better than some of the Walthers expensive kits. And a great tutorial. You should enter it in one of the monthly photo contests when it's finished.

Thanks again for all the support you folks give me. I find projects like this fun to do but also keeps me on track to get it completed.
trainmasta13601 I will take a picture on track when it is finished. Actually I am just in the process of laying track in the area the coal tower will be in.
In the meantime, there are a number of walk ways to be made.
First I tape the ends of two pieces of 1/16 cerealboard then add 1/4 inch length cross pieces. I have also used this method to make wooden fences. This is tedious work so need a good baseball game on TV to keep sanity.
