Silveroxide Memorial build, Super Chimera

After getting the news of Silveroxide's passing this morning, I decided to build one of his designs to honor his memory. I found Zealot after discovering his work on the 40k forum Dakkadakka. This his Super Chimera.




I had started a thread earlier, however I found I probably deleted it trying to update on my phone... Don't cook and update Zealot simultaneously!

Don't mind the googly eyes... Goofy now, but awesome dome shapes after primer! Silveroxide's method of shaping paper into a dome is beyond my skillset at the moment. But I do want to come back and try it in th future.

Almost done with the main hull before moving on to the drivetrain parts.

Baby steps today... Adding periscopes to the hatch. Scratch built, as best Infiguted from his photos, and some elements I used on the M113 build, just scaled up a tad.

Found the official periscopes... After gluing these on. Ended the night on the fenders. Will reinforce the skirt next, then get ready for road wheels.

I remember SO, he was a great paper modeler. I'm sad at his passing. I think this build should be the model of the month, as a fitting memorial.

I remember his builds, but have never tried one of his designs. is there a simpler one of his that I could try as a tribute?

One wheel down, only 13 more to go!

Made some tweaks... Hopefully they turn out!

Nice! How did you, or what is the techniques you used to get the wheel centers cut?

I used a circle cutter (Olfa) and 1/4" hole punch (crafting type, though an office on might work).

Correction on the road wheel count... 14 down, 14 more to go for the other side! I also made the inner wheels more simplified on my build.
