Uhu02 interstellar Endurance

After starting and then hanging out a model of UHU02 ( the Orion III model ), I decided to try again with something simpler, or at least I hope so.

So I started to build the model of the starship protagonist of the movie Interstellar, the Endurance designed by UHU02.

To complicate my life, however, I decided to use, for the first time, a product to protect the colors and to "laminate" the paper and make it more resistant. This of course has led to some adjustments in how I normally cut and bend the parts, and the choice of a more suitable glue (vinyl glue).

I then decided to strictly follow the assembly sequence suggested by the designer, hoping to avoid errors and omissions in a model that is not very simple.

I then started with the realization of the individual modules that make up the ring, also following the suggestions to make the surface more three-dimensional.

Nice start. One of my favorite movies, and a great model.

Lots of glass in those cupolas. Something that could be greebled, they look great as they are though. You sure know how to make a round part, they look perfect. :)

Yes, I'd like to expose the model in the appropriate context ;)

No better name for this model I guess, and I had to apply all my endurance to form all those wheels: I had to trim each disc with his ring, slowly working it with sandpaper.

So the green group is complete.

The blue group is the more complex but luckily I have only four elements.
First the rings, the common part to all the groups, and the cylindrical part that I think is like the PMA (Pressurized Mating Adapter) on the ISS.

Then a sort of collar all around the "PMA", very tricky to cut, fold and glue.

Now, after assembly completed for the blue group, I just have to assemble the individual connectors of the communication tunnel.

This is an interesting question (and, very often, we ask this one ourselves when it's too late to come back... ;) ).
I think it all depends on how hard is all kept toghether by magnets. How strong is the whole structure once assembled.
Looking at UHU02's photos it seem to be pretty solid but it all depends on the magnets you used for the junctions (if you used magnets... or you are going to paste all definitively?)

Anyway some kind of metal wire passing through the axis of the central element should be the best option to show it, instead of simply stand it on one of the faces like in this image... (not too fascinating...)
You should realize some kind of stand similar to the the sundial you made some time ago... remember?

Obviously, if you plan to do something similar, it will be necessary to strenghten conveniently the element who will suffer the weight of the model... so, after all, the question is not too early...

Hi Tonino, I think my neodymium magnets are strong enough and I should not have problems with landers and shuttles. I will also double them as the sensei suggests.

Not in scale at the moment, just a visualization. Which one do you prefer? I prefer the first one, the simplest. In this case the ship leans on the engine modules.

I agree with DJPinter.
I too would go with #3. Perhaps if you use the same material as the Background you could make it almost invisible.
Very nice work by the way. keep it up.
