After years of nagging him to death, Revell-Fan has accepted my offer to become a Moderator. Technically, he will be a "Super Moderator", as I needed someone with that capacity and that was around all the time, and had the respect and knowledge to be effective without being overbearing (which none of our moderators, 'cept me, are. :) So please, Congratulate Revelle-Fan, you all know him already. He makes this forum a bright spot in my life, now the light shines brighter for all of us, which it was already. The more things change, the more they stay the same!! :)

But, does that now mean you have full use of @zathros 's whip??? :blueface: :eek: (when he is not using it, of course!!!!! ;))

Oh my, I don't know what to say - except, that it is a bit sad that Chis is not with us now (in fact, he had been using the whip on me since he became an admin to accept the offer) :D . He would have liked it so much (albeit I'm curious to know what he thinks when he learns that it was John who finally managed to make me accept :) ). So in a way, I bowed before public comman.. erh, request.:Grin:

Thank you all for your support and your compliments. However, John is right when he said that the forum is run by its members. This place is great, we all are a peaceful and creative community and have become sort of a family. An "old" (well-known and sorely missed) member used to say, "Zealot is special because WE make it so". I can't express it better. Within the last few years we have proven that. The level of creativity, craftmanship and engagement is absolutely stunning. When I come back from a hard day at work I always look forward to the updates of the many many threads here. One of the best things is, you can see the family evolve and it never gets boring. This community is one of the most active ones which increases its popularity and shows that we do care; we do not cherish the same hobby but we also ensure that the forum flourishs and grows. Hats off and cheers to all of you. :Drinks:

That being said, please be patient with me as I still need to get used to that new position. OK, I already know how to use the whip :D, however, in the most cases it is meant as a friendly pat on the head. :)

@DanBKing : I don't know what is happening right now, the same things occur to my posts and prevented a flawless update of the Poster Gun. :( And yes, now I have the longwhip, the shortwhip, the nudgewhip, the don't-do-that-again-whip, the WTF-whip and the hit-me-I'm-dumb-whip at my disposal (I really need to take actions against using the latter sort too often on myself though, but I guess Zathros will help me with that:lolsign: ).

@legal01 : I'm looking forward to anything you are preparing for me! :noteeth:

@spaceagent-9 : Well, no. "Galactican" would be better, but a change would confuse the fans. So, let's stay with RF (but without the "e" after "Revell" ;) ).

I'm really curious to know what causes these issues (double or triple threads and posts) lately.

From what I have experienced over the last week, is it seems that any editing or deleting or adding posts, seems to 'hang' the interface. For example, if you press 'Post Reply', or 'Delete' etc, the respective button becomes 'greyed-out,' the site looks like it is doing something, and then the button returns to normal, ie. clickable again, but nothing has changed. Nothing has been deleted/updated etc. It took me seven attempts to delete a post of mine earlier ......
From my DBA experience, it smacks of a server/host communications link error. Check all your logs on the server and make sure nothing is full. The server Event Viewer would probably show a heck of a lot of a common error, as the problem is occurring frequently, for a lot, but not all, forum users ..........
That's my €'s worth .... ;)


EDIT: Not 2 minutes after posting this, exactly the same happened on a post I put for Cylongirls new thread..... And 2 posts now by me......... Let me see how many times it will take to delete it ..... And also interesting to note: Even though I posted 2 replies, the thread only shows as 1 reply posted .........
