Now the ear-worm is in place I shall continue :)

I decided to build a Thomas the Tank Engine for my son and my girlfriend's little boy as well. Also in this deal are an Elsa (frozen) for the girls, but more on that later...

It's quite an easy little kit, but I'm adding a challenge in trying to get the wheels to rotate....

Here's the massive two pages...

What a nice thing to do. They will be much more personal of a gift, being hand made, just double up on everything!!! :)

I agree with Z, this is just sooo cute. My grand kids are past the Thomas the Tank stage, so I'll just watch your build.

One set of wheels done, the bit of tooth pick serving as a "bearing"

And the connection rod

Now I hit a problem, the paper connection rod is not strong enough to rotate! After some thought I think I'll make some plastic ones

So a bit of disappointing news, the wood & paper bearings did not hold up to the strain of the wheels rotating :(

I'm going to complete the build as (card) stock :)

So, I kind of got carried away with the first one and forgot to take photos. :hammerhead:

So here we go with the second build :)

Here we see the coal bunker

Then attached to the cab/tank combination

"Oh, dear," Thomas said, "I've gone all to pieces."

Then the wheel arches onto the base

And then everything together

Whistle attached

Then the dome and funnel

And he's done!
