Hello fellow modelers! Not quite sure I'm in the right place, but just associating with other paper modelers already means I'm in the right place! After looking around for a while and finding mostly spacecraft and ship models (lots of others, too) I may be a little out of place.
I make models for my dream model railroad... Mostly buildings and scenery items in general. There is always something in common we can find, weathering for instance, and I'm attached to some of the same websites as well, such as the Papermau blog.
As a kid I was an avid modeler. Plastic kits of warships and planes, plus sent in my dime for the Lunar Excursion Module model. I also had the obligatory HO 4x8 train layout which my parents had as much fun with as I. Some little voice in my head (probably senility) told me to try it again so I am! Paper modeling fits my skill and budget, so I'm back in the beginners ranks. I hope I'll have things to share as I go along, and I know I have plenty of questions!

Thanks! Sam

Hello Sam!

Welcome to Zealot! You have indeed come to the right place for all things paper (and other mediums, to include plastic). Many of our members are HUGE SCI-FI geeks (myself included). SO, I hope that will help you feel more at home here. Of course, we have sections for model railroads as well. Even though you have had a brief look around, I would like to encourage you take a look at every corner of the forum. There is quite a bit to see.

If you have any questions, concerns, need help or advice, please feel free to ask, and we will do what we can to help you (or at least point you in the right direction).

If you have any photos of anything that you have built, by all means, please post photos. We love seeing photos.
Speaking about photos; when you are building new projects, I would like to encourage you to post build threads. Build threads are a great way to show off your skills and techniques, as well as highlight problems areas that you may have issues with or have come up with a solution for said problems.

Once again welcome aboard. I hope that you feel at home and enjoy yourself here. I look forward to seeing your work!

Welcome! There are some very good models available in the scifi jaundra here and online. The build threads are also a very good help. The ALIENS troop combat transport build thread has a lot of great tips for building onto a model custom parts for actions like sliding doors, swinging turrets and wheels, etc...
