Every experience I've had with surgeons (broke my stupid neck in '72, a brain tumor the size of my thumb in '80, and then a little hernia repair a couple of months ago) taught me that they always want you to be "prepared" for the worst.
It's as though they want you to be extra thankful for their wonderful skills when you come out of it just fine.
And I'm sure you'll be that --- just fine.
