Suggestions for how to power my layout

I have a 4'x2' layout and i need to know what ill need to power 1 train and lighting. What is the CHEAPEST method of powering. Can somebody please tell me what would be best? Thanks,

I would suggest going to your local hobby shop and talk to the folks there then they can show you your choices.
