Our driver detailed as per my other miniatures (see my posts in the resin or mixed media section for the soldiers in desert camo). Masking tape turned out great with the coat of primer and some paint (for the fie point harness).

Today I got my gunner sorta laid out... I ordered parts (Mad Robot Gunner Arms) but have everything else I need at the moment for the gunner miniature.

On to the weapon we use! I really like how the automatic grenade launcher looked.

Video of my inspiration:
I have some fun memories playing with these when I was active duty years ago...

First off, I cut out the box shaped structures, and cut the slots on the feed/ejection ports. I used a drill bit to form the barrel. I then used the black acrylic ink on the inside surfaces where primer may not get to, and neither will my paint brushes in most of those cases.

Then I went about assembling the greeblies... I added a couple here and there (see the reference picture I posted earlier on Pg. 1 of this thread).

I was pleased with the results:

I then moved on to creating the belt of grenades. This will be another deviation from the design, but I'm not sure it will work... Regardless, I am giving a shot (pun intended). I cut up some lengths of toothpick as the diameter matched the pattern quite well, and they average about 2.45mm diameter, so I ordered some 2.5mm half round nail art craft beads to provide the grenades on the tip of the toothpick sections.

I figure what doesn't make it onto the belt will be left as cylinders in the event I find a nice place for empty casings on the vehicle.

Wow, nice intricate work. Coming together well!

Another technique you could use for the Grenades is to round the end of the toothpick, before cutting to length. Then you have a rounded end and a square end. Use an emery board, by twisting the toothpick in your fingers as you slide it back and forth to get the shape you want.

Here is my latest progress on my grenade launcher and the belt of grenades. I stuck to my reference to to the good ol' MK 19 and painted the grenades in a similar manner. Those casings for the powder are green, with gold tipped grenades. I added some with yellow tip for the standard high explosive fragmentation, and every third round can be considred a tracer/armor piercing incindiary (because #@%^ your cover bonus, and burn while you thought you could hide....).

Now, I await parts from Mad Robot for the last miniature I'm building for this vehicle, the gunner.

I completed the Tauros today. I glued the gunner arms to the weapon as the first part, then assembled the gunner (head, torso, and legs only) and glued it in place where desired. The weapon was held in place by the tension in the arms to the torso, so I added a drop of CA glue to the gun mount on the roll bar and a drop to each shoulder. That should hold eveyrthing in place...

Regardless, this was a fun little project to do when you have all the pieces and parts handy!
