Saw the pictures of the revised A-Wing of (Thread of Cybergrider)
Shunichi Makino - Thank you for so many great models.
and I could not resist in making it too.

I also did the "old" version (without cockpit) and it was great fun to build.
Enclosed my first steps - following the instruction.

Perfect Match of all parts.....but I did not follow instruction step by step.
1. mistake placing the seat - have to remove it, as the background is not yet put in -:headbange:
2. mistake I did not glue part 4 into place - so I have to do it later on which will be a little more difficult :Computer:

Therefore my strong advice: FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION CAREFULLY!

By the way: there a 2 parts named "4" - easy to distinguish - therefore no problem for the model or the building process.

Back again - new pics and correction of mistake no 1. Unfortunately not a perfect correction, but I hope I will be able to minimize the "correction effect" in the end when finalizing the model.

Also these parts match perfectly. Nothing to complain about.
Tip: the sideparts (first picture right upper corner). When placing to the model make sure that the flaps are inside the hull.

Looking good Starbuck! (I also didn't follow the instructions at first....)

I think we get a bit over-confident when it's a model we've built before ;)
I think you are right - the former build helps to understand the structure and how parts fit together.
Thanks to all for the cheerful words.

So next pics and correction of my second mistake - had to remove the seat - and after glueing the background I put it in again.
Next parts will be a little bit more tricky, I think. Especially the cockpit and the tiny parts of the gun.

I do not know exactly where I got them, but I think it was on E-bay long time ago.
I like it if my fighters have pilots - this one is a little bit to small for the model, but better than nothing.

So next steps: First picture - parts (do not know what they are named) - I decided to enforce them by taking a second layer of the paper to stabilize them.

The cockpit.....oh yes the cockpit.....
What you see is my third attempt - I only managed to form it by cutting the cockpit in plastic as it was designed for the paper version. Hard thing was to bring it in shape. - Not perfect as you can see the cuts in the final version of the cockpit.
Maybe there is a better way to do it - if anybody found - please let me know for future projects.

And some greebeling.......

The not perfect edges I will try to cover at the end by colouring and/or weathering.

THX Zathros.

Enclosed the next parts.

Starting the guns....oh some parts have small diameter, but.....as the paper version of the parts were not in a perfect shape
I started cheating. As can bee seen at the pictures 2 and 4, I used toothpicks to replace paper parts. This works fine, as the diameter of
the paper parts and the toothpicks is the same.

I believe (getting old so I forget) "Wood is unrealized paper".

Chopsticks, wooden skewers, all of these ready made shapes are great for paper modeling. I think every paper plane should have a wooden main spar. It's sad to see a model lose it's over all critical shape to moisture, where wood would have arrested the problem. ;)

I am glad to hear that the use of wood
is seen as useful, sometimes upgrading but not cheating.:)

So now the final pics. (The plastic model is the version of Bandai - do not know whether other exist - just to mention.)

Summary: really a fun build with an great outcome.
THANKS AGAIN TO Shunichi Makino FOR THIS EXCELLENT MODEL. :Bravo:

Follow the instruction and everything will come together perfectly.
The difficulty in my personal scale is 7/10 (mostly based on the transparent cockpit and the small diameter parts of the canons).
