I’ve decided to create my own little Aviation corner of Z and put all my future Av builds under this one thread. It keeps all of my builds together, easier to locate and just makes sense to me.
So I thought I’d start out with something G1 suggested/asked about on my Mini F-18 thread on the other forum; an F-14. Thanks G1, great idea!
I thought I’d keep this one small as well. Like the F-18, this too was designed with those same parameters in mind; down scalable, less parts, simple construction, 1 page, etc.
I really like the colors of the first 14s Grumman produced so that’s what I went with. I’ll also change the colors to the muted grays of the later ones when this one is completed, so you guys will have that one as well.
At it’s current page size this one is 1:125 scale or 6”. You’ll need to reduce it further to get your standard 1:200 & 1:300. I’ll figure out the pdf math later and let you know. The small one pictured below is 1:300; quick Photoshop guesstimate.
For now, this is where I’m at. Some of you may have already seen the first pic posted on Gregg’s thread, so excuse the redundancy. I’ve got a bit more tweaking to do as I build each trial run and come up with other things to do/fix. I’ll keep you guys posted as I go and turn her over to the DL section when done. I’ll do my best to keep notes and pics for instructions as I go.
Enjoy, -J
