Skyfighter from "V" The Series

Recently (as many as you know), I uploaded template of the Skyfighter designed by Mike Hungerford and the Landing Gear from the template that was designed by ThunderChild. Since there are no build threads, that I can find (not only that, but this template only has written instruction and no photo instructions), I have decided to post a build thread and show how everything goes together.



I started with the front window section, intakes, and top of the nose and formed it out.


Here are the parts for the front underside and front landing gear.


Starting with the underside and front landing gear bay. When cutting the parts out, be certain to follow the cutting guide to open the front section of the hull for the landing gear bay.


I assembled the landing gear bay.


The landing gear bay is attached in place.


The side pieces for the front section are assembled.


The side pieces are attached to the bottom hull piece.




I attached the nose piece.


Attaching the windows, intake, and top of the nose. Start with the very front of the nose piece and attach each tab slowly (making certain that the glue and dried enough that it will hold, whilst moving on to the next tab).


The windows, intake, and top of the nose are now fully attached.

Here is the forward hull top skin.


I pre-shaped the forward hull top skin


When attaching the forward hull top skin, start with the front and attach it to the front window tab first, and then work either side.


Also take note of the positioning of the forward hull top skin. Make certain that you line up the corner of the intake with the tab of the forward hull top skin.


The forward hull top skin is secure in place.




This is the forward hull forward bulkhead.
(*NOTE* I should have attached this before attaching the forward hull top skin)


I attached the forward hull forward bulkhead to the cockpit bottom skin.


I attached the forward hull top skin to the sides of the forward hull forward bulkhead.


Here is the inside of the forward hull section.


Here is the forward hull bottom skin.


When attaching the forward hull bottom skin to the forward hull forward bulkhead, start from the center and work your way out to either edge.




The forward hull bottom skin is fully attached.




This is the forward hull aft bulkhead.


When attaching the forward hull aft bulkhead, start at the center top and bottom, and work your way around to the

Moving on to the front landing gear. Here are the parts for the front landing gear.


The front landing gear components are assembled.


Here is the front landing gear strut.


The front landing gear strut is attached in place.




Here are the parts for the main guns.


The main guns are assembled.


The main guns are attached in place.








The front hull section is complete.

After a quick review and inventory of the parts that I had still to go (and comparing what I had build to the original model), I realized that I had forgotten the Forward Hull Top & Bottom Structures.

Here are the parts for the Forward Hull Top & Bottom Structures.


The Forward Hull Top & Bottom Structures are assembpled.


The Forward Hull Top Structure is attached in place.






The Forward Hull Bottom Structure is attached in place.


NOW, the front hull section is complete.

Now moving on to the rear hull section.

I started with the rear landing gear and landing gear bays. Here are the parts.


The The components for the rear landing gear are assembled.


The landing gear struts are assemble.
(I set them aside until later.)


Here is the aft hull bottom skin and rear landing gear bays.


The rear landing gear bays are attached in place.


Here is the aft hull top skin.


Here the aft hull aft bulkhead.


When attaching the aft hull top skin, start at the "roof" and slowly work your way around each side.


The aft hull top skin is attached to the aft hull aft bulkhead.


The aft hull bottom skin is attached to the aft hull aft bulkhead and the aft hull top skin.


Here is the aft hull forward bulkhead.


When attaching the aft hull forward bulkhead, start at the center top and bottom, and work your way around to the


The aft hull forward bulkhead is fully attached in place.

These are the parts for the aft compartment.


When assembling the aft compartment, start with the two large pieces and start in the center and work your way out the the edges.


Both large pieces are attached together.


The top piece is attached in place


The bottom piece is attached in place.


The aft compartment is attached in place.

Here are the parts for the aft hull top forward structure and aft hull top aft structure.


The aft hull top forward structure and aft hull top aft structure are assembled.




The aft hull top forward structure and aft hull top aft structure are attached in place.








Here are the parts for the aft hull bottom structure.


The aft hull bottom structure are assembled.


The aft hull bottom structure and landing gear struts are attached in place.




This is the tween-hulls bulkhead.


The tween-hulls bulkhead is attached to the aft hull section first.


Both the forward and aft hulls are now attached together.

Nice!! I remember in the series the ships modular looked like they could be reconfigured, maybe add longer sections, if needed. It was a well thought out design. Reminds me of "Tacit Blue", which was the prototype for the B2 Stealth bomber.
