Following the the long build that was the Enterprise C I wanted to attack a simplerer build.

I looked thru my collection and decided on the TOS Romulan Bird of Prey. A relatively simple design (esp compared to the Klingon Bird of Prey)

It was a quick. Build - I've attached some build Pics and some finished, beauty, shots.

Lessons learned
  • Keeping the cloak affect whilst folding the card is tricky
  • You need to add some internal structure to give substance to the body

I love it but you should paint the edges. Use a very light colour so that it barely comes through. It makes such a difference! thumbsup

BTW, that remains me to finally build my cloaked G:1980 Viper. I have already printed the parts pages. I know they are on my desk somewhere but I can't find them any more. :sticktongue:

Hehehe... I spent hours and hours making the AMT Klingon Bird of Prey, super detailed, with lighted windows and torpedo launcher, went to the LHS for a model contest, had it sitting ready to enter it, and a kid came in, knocked to to the floor, and stepped on it. the only thing not broken was the stand. A little quick thinking, and a gold paint pen, and I entered the stand, with the title "Klingon B'Rel class Bird of prey" (Cloaked) won 1 st place and best in show.

Any tips and suggestions on the kit?

How'd you power the cloaking device, while still keeping the batteries so small thatchy fit in th hull?

I think your cloak belt over into the stand, though. Careful trimming od edges can avoid such bleed-over.

I am a bit confused as to why you recolored this, before applying the cloak?

Just a few tips...

Big tip - don't print the design on to heavy card stock. The scores and folders really show up too much, hence a lots of retouching, I found the best for this was clear nail varnish as it maintied the cloak effect put covered the edges!

Do you remeber the film "Bateries not included" - same principle the cloak is powered by there technology.
