Quick question about #4 TO and larger engines.

Just wondering,will a larger engine..say a T55 ES44AC take a #4 turnout O.K.?

I doubt it. The locomotive will probably go around a #4, but it is so long, it will probably flip any car immediately behind it over.

I didn't think so.I was thinking of E-baying the T55 and getting a couple BLI SD40-2's instead anyways so now I have an excuse to do it.I'll see what happens,thanks for the input.

I have atlas snap-switches, so I am not sure about #4's, but I have an Athearn AC4400 and I can do those switches, but I had to add Kadee long shanks to both the engine and car behind it, so I'm sure most people wouldn't think that is acceptable.

Unless you just must have a six axle diesel, I would look for Gp38, Gp40-2, or Gp 50s. Also Ge Dash8-40B would work better on sharp turns and #4 turn outs.
