Print & Paste 2.5D Dungeon Textures for TTRPGs

Hi all. This is gonna be a very simple project, making dungeon tiles for Dungeons & Dragons. The textures are available on a "Pay what you want" basis from drivethruRPG.com



The textures include floors, walls, and doors based on a 1 inch grid, for tabletop use 1" equals 5'

I drew up a simple building on graph paper,


the texture is cut out to size, and glued to either corrugated cardboard, or in my case foam board.

An appropriately sized piece of foam core


And the grid trimmed out and glued to the foam core.

The walls in this system are represented by 1/2 inch wide strips, that are themselves on the same foam core.

This is the el cheapo delux foam board from the local 99 cent store.. thus it came pre wrinkled, and the paper peels off very easily...
foam board cut down.


And finally I have 3 sections of 1/2" wide by 7" long "wall"


Now I just have to decide which room to make first...

Based on the way these tiles will be made, I have changed my drawing.


The doors are cut apart...


And glued to the foam board.


The bases for the doors will be glued to thin cardboard.

The door bases rough cut.


And laminated to thin cardboard, in this case cereal box is all I had.


Now to let the glue dry, then cut out the bases.

the door uprights are hot glued to the base pieces.


And the doors are done.


Next will be cutting out the rooms.

Yes Rhaven, I could raise the arches but for now, I'm just making the basic tiles. Maybe when I get home I'll revisit this project, with edge painting, actual texture applied to the floors, and greebeling done.

I decided to start with the largest single room...
First the room is cut out, oversized by 1 inch to allow for the walls...


Then the 1/2" wide walls are attached...


Next will be the entrance hall.

I forgot to take photos last night so here is my finished building...


And the beauty shot, with minis for scale...


All in all, a simple build up. I purchased some cheap craft paints and craft brushes at Wal-Mart last night, so I'm gonna go back and paint all the edges black, or brown...

Would you believe the cheap craft paint set (12 2oz bottles) did NOT include black?
It has "Pavement", a really dark grey, but no black...

So I edge painted all the pieces with "Pavement"... And the cheap craft paint is so thick, even thinned 50/50 it still gummed up..


Anywho... on to the next project... Err Back to the Gundam.
