Hey is that Philly in the back ground? I just moved back to Chicago from Philly, Iwas out there for work for a year and those buildings remind me of where I lived in Philly
 
For me, weathering happens randomly. I use oil and powder. Check out this sight if you like weathering modeltrainsweathered

Philly? I think it is... look close and you can see how the photo of my model has the real city skyline cropped in.
