Pierre's Intro

Hi everyone. I was invited to join based on my interest in paper models, especially Sci-Fi subjects and general architecture. I've been making things out of cardboard ever since I was a little kid, slowly graduating to making my own models of the USS Enterprise and models I saw on Space:1999. I always had a good head to figure out how things need to be unfolded and built, which has served me well throughout my weird and varied career (starting in animation and ending in designing party goods).

I made a video for work detailing my background in paper modeling and wanted to share it with you. Here's a link:

When you start a new project, I would like to invite you to post a build thread. Build threads are a great way of show off your work and skills. Not only that, but if you run into an issue with a model you can highlight the area that you are having problems with and we can offer you some suggestions on how to deal with them.

So, if you have any questions, comments, concerns, need help or advice. Please feel free to ask and we will do what we can to help you (or at least point you in the right direction).

Welcome Pierre! Love your models especially the depth greeting cards. It reminds me of the old techniques used by Disney studios for making their cartoons. I also watched Space: 1999 as a kid and have been hoping there’d be a reboot or revival of some kind (ala Battlestar Galactica).

Great introduction. The shadow box technique is a great way to add great depth to a subject. It's also a great way to preserve your models. The potential for a shadow box is only as limited as you are, which means, endless possibilities. Thanks for a great introduction and a very nice video. I am embedding your video into your post.
