Guess you know the rules, only one photo per person and no questions to be asked in this thread.

This will run from now until the 22nd of November.

Good look to one and all.
Shamus

Edit: This contest was for Prototype

I've always liked this photo:) It was taken at Woodford siding on the Tehachapi Pass in California, some time in the late 80's. This train was sitting in the hole awaiting a downhill train. I noticed the nice back lighting and thought I'd take a shot and then when the engineer openned the throttle I knew I was taking the shot!!!:D

Enjoy

After riding the Footplate of this Loco for 160 miles I took this picture whist she was being coaled. She passed my house every Friday during the 90's pulling a special Capetown train to
Klerksdorp which is about 100 miles from Johannesburg, and then returned to her Depot with no load. The driver allowed me to take the throttle for 20 miles on a straight section What a thrill!!

Yolo Shortline Baldwin 0-6-0 in Woodland, Ca. on the overhaul rack.
This engine has been setting her for several months so I guess the guys doing the overhaul work in their spare time.

For all you "critter" fans, here's a little GE unit that used to switch cars around the old Naval Ordinance Station here in Louisville...

Whadday know!? I was looking through some old pics and found an entry! Taken circa 1986 this is what I referred to as
"The Mr. Donut Local". Every couple of days this interesting lashup of locos would slow to a stop right behind the Mr. Donut in St. Anthony MN, north of Minneapolis. The crew would grab a bag and some coffee to go. I used to stop there every morning on the way to work. Seeing the train was always a bonus!

I might as well toss one into the fray...
A pair of CN units backing downgrade across Maple Avenue in Sussex, NB earlier this year to retrieve a single covered hopper from the Co-Op feed mill.

Winter will be coming soon. Here is a melancholic look back to last February:

Thick snowflakes are whirling around while a Swiss commuter train glides by almost soundlessly.
