Thank you for your reply on my MARS. I remember seeing it when I was 11 years old in 1954 My dad got back from Oahu My father was second generation Navy and I am the third. My dad was a aviation machinist mate, Worked on PBMs and P5M Marlins. My mother got a tellegram from the naval department stateing my dads return from Honolulu. I never seen anything so big before the biggest plane I seen at my younger years was the old C123 Globemaster she also was a big bird. the MARS was the 747 of the 40s and 50s. Canada uses them nowdays as borate fire bombers, they will be there for a while nothing can replace them there has been rummers that the will be retireing the Martin museum will get one and canada will get the other as museum exibits.
