Martin Marietta Spacemaster Shuttle

This just seems to good to not have been used. It looks like the the makings of a great model. A pilot in the ascent unit to fly the base unit back, eject it something goes wrong, and disconnect the shuttle on the way out. Looks like it wouldn't be too hard to make a model out of. Not many pictures though.

It is in fact the most logical "NEXT STEP" for the "shuttle" program. The cargo/payload cabin can easily be modified to handle either large cargo, a large number of crew, or a combination of both.
This is something that either NASA, Space'X, VIRGIN, Bigelow Aerospace, or Blue Origin should seriously look into, and pursue with great interest.

I like it!
The empty tanks could be filled with air from solid pucks that heat up and expel air, and then be used as a 'space' to recreate in? Then just land it on Mars as a habitat!

That ship was proposed in 1962, I believe. Who knows what politics were at play. It still seems like a good idea. Easy separation from for the main ship. Makes you wonder.
