Being relitivly new to this hobby I make mistakes, lots and lots of mistakes. One of the things I know to do is something I failed to do. That is to color the edges of the paper prior to assembly. So I tried to play catch-up and color the white edges. For this I choose to use brown shoe polish. I places some in a cup and applied to the edges with a brush. The decision to use polish was because the polish could get into locations that I would never reach with a pencil, marker or pastels. I made a mess of it but live and learn. If you squint just the right way the mistakes look like additional weathering. HAHA!
I also put a few of the tread assemblies in place to get an idea of how this will look
Sooo true! The best thing about SW and BSG models: You may disguise any building flaw as battle damage!![]()
For a beginner, you did not do a bad job. I remember my first kit model. It was absolute rubbish. If I may suggest, find a model that you really like, build it, study it, practice with it, and try new techniques with it. That way, you can easily improve your skills. Not only that, but find a particular builder and/or designer that you like here on the forum, and follow that person's (or persons) work. Also ask questions about what he or she does and how they do it. I am certain that you will pick things up very quickly.
