Yesterday was a very important day for my country, Republic of San Marino.
For the first time, in our millenary history, San Marino has two women as Captain Regents.
For who doesn't know, the two Captain Regents (Capitani Reggenti) are San Marino Heads of State. They are elected between Parliament members every six months (1st of april and 1st of october) with a suggestive ceremony that is held twice in the year, unchanged, since 1243. This particular and very ancient form of government make San Marino the oldest Republic in the world.
But, even if we had many "mixed" Regencies in past years (the first woman elected was Maria Lea Pedini in 1981), this is the absolutely first time that the two Captains are both women.
